"How long do you plan to watch them" a voice said making me startle. I turned around to find Hanifa behind me.

"Next time, before you make my heart stop working, don't walk so quietly"

"Sorry"

I just brushed passed her and went to the kitchen. I brought out all the ingredients that I'll need to make the dinner while Hanifa just perched on the kitchen counter doing nothing in particular.

"So do you like him?" she asked.

"Why are you asking, I don't even know him"

"And he knows you, so what's it gonna be, a hausa themed wedding or fulani wedding" she said dreamily.

I just ignored her and continued what I was doing. I began cutting vegetables.

"You do know that you are going to some day right? "she said and while I gave a thought to what she just said, I accidentally cut my finger.

I raised my hand to examine the finger, it wasn't deep at all and it didn't hurt that much.

"I'm sorry sis, I didn't mean to... "

"it's nothing Hanifa" I said rinsing my hand under the tap on the sink before wiping it with a tissue paper.

"I know that I'm going to get married, that's for sure but not to him or any one else that just comes for my hand without even asking".

She hummed in response and hopped down from the counter and collected the knife from me.

"Just do something else we don't want someone to loose a finger before she gets married"

I smiled and nodded and began to wash the rice.

Ammiey came to the kitchen after the guests left and together we finished making dinner.

Abba called me after dinner and Todd me about the proposal. He said he wasn't going to force me but let me make a choice and of course he'll allow me to get to know him better with as usual Hanifa as the chaperone.

He wanted to give me a preview about him but I wanted to know him. Our first meeting would be tomorrow.

This should be fun.

You all got the sarcasm right.

Tell me you did.

"Sameer right?" I asked after he finished introducing his name. There was no need asking but for the sake of Abba who would want me to take my time -even if I didn't need it -I had to stall for time.

"Yes" he replied.

Hanifa was standing at a close distance from us as we all sat under an umbrella tree outside our house.
