Cold.

Cold was the first feeling to welcome Joohyun as she ran her fingers over the empty and slightly wrinkled sheet beside her. As far as she could remember, probably just an hour ago, warmth bundled in the form of a person— her favorite person— was laying down just inches from her. The lack of that certain warmth prompted her to turn around and open one eye, sight still blurry from hours of peaceful slumber.

Opening her eye was something she instantly regretted, her post-wake up thoughts confirmed with the lack of body in front of her. Bae Joohyun could only groan.

"Baby?", she calls out to no avail.

No response, and that was odd. She looks up at her bedside and the sight of her digital clock displaying 6:20 AM flashed in front of her. It's too early, where is she?, she thought to herself. Knowing her tendency to overthink, she didn't need another second to decide that she should look for her. She could not afford another minute without her favorite source of warmth.

Joohyun hurriedly puts on the closest shirt and shorts she could grab from the floor surrounding her. Next thing she knew, she was out of her bedroom and walking half-awake through their dorm's living room.

Empty. Not the kind of empty that's typical for other dorms. The entertainment set, as it's always been, is there; the sofa still reeking of Seulgi's spilled coke and Pringles from last night is still there—

But the warmth that makes their shared dorm feel like home isn't there. A slight sense of panic surrounded her, recalling the grueling months she had to spend away from that warmth— those unfortunate and heartbreaking days she and the rest of her members had to endure.

Stop, she tells herself. The last thing she needed was to be reminded of those days, as those days were long gone. Her warmth promised that again and again without fail.

With perfect timing, Joohyun turns her head to face the kitchen when she hears the sound of running water hitting the metal sink. She smiles to herself, finally getting the answers to the first question she had in mind this summer morning. Automatically, like it's part of her nature, Joohyun takes quick but light steps towards the kitchen, only to stop herself by the corner as she admires the small but comforting figure who seems to be too busy to even notice her presence.

That damn vegetable, she didn't even notice me here?, Joohyun thought, her eyes rolling in the process— only to be followed by a smile when she realized how silly and childish her thoughts could be when it involved the other girl.
