A week had passed—rather quickly in her opinion—and it was already time for her to make the trek to perform the Induction Ceremony for the new Alpha of the Corvus Pack. It would be a good nine hours, considering the border to her destination was about a six hour run, and from there to the pack village would be another three.

The Corvus Pack was not small by any means, and they held more territory than most of the American packs due to their numbers. More wolves meant more land for hunting and housing, and boy did they sure have it.

She continued to abuse the terrain as she kept a quick, steady pace; a backpack modified to fit her wolfish frame was snuggly secured to her form. If she kept at this speed, she was sure to arrive before sundown.

It was an uneventful trip overall, her muscles burned pleasantly from the workout she received and she was more than pleased to note that her stamina was still in top form. Secretly, she had worried on whether or not sitting through so many council meetings would soften her physique, but she was quite happy to be proven wrong.

It had been roughly fifteen minutes since she had crossed the border into Corvus territory before she was greeted by five—shirtless—shifters awaiting her arrival in their human forms. Judging by their scents and the way they held themselves, it was easy to pick out their rank within the pack. Four warriors and the Beta stood, waiting for her to approach them.

FIVE escorts? Really? she snorted to herself as she slowed her pace before coming to a complete stop a few feet before them. She looked at them expectantly, the way their eyes roamed her form not going unnoticed.

Hell, was she really that fascinating?

Well, a thousand year old, unmated she-wolf on the Elder Council wasn't too common.

"Elder Corbin, it is an honor to make your acquaintance. I am Lionel Roux, Beta of the Corvus Pack. " the Beta bowed at the waist, the other four following his lead though they did not speak or introduce themselves.

'Raise your head, Beta Roux.. and Warriors as well.' she spoke through the mental link that all werewolves shared, her eyes dulling slightly as a sign of her communicating telepathically.

"Alpha Dominic has been anticipating your arrival.. if you would please follow us, we will escort you to the village." the Beta spoke again, but said nothing more as he and the warriors turned to strip themselves of their loose fitting trousers and shift.

It wasn't long until all six wolves were in formation and running towards their destination.

Two warriors ran on either side of her—each of the warriors varying shades of brown and gray—while the Beta, whose wolf resembled the markings and coloration of a timber wolf, headed the front to lead the way; really, wasn't this posse a little too much?

She didn't dwell too much on the escort service though, and instead focused on trying to keep herself from breaking formation to run faster.

The pace that had been set wasn't exactly the most exciting, though she had an inkling that it had been set at such a pace because she was an Elder.. though it was more probable because she was a she-wolf.

As she had predicted, about three hours into the run they had finally started to slow to a trot as they entered the pack village; curious gazes from many wolves, both young and old, male and female, observed her with curiosity and caution.

Their gazes were nothing new, of course. It was common practice within werewolf communities to be wary of those not within the pack, even if it was one of the rarely seen Elders.

'The Alpha House is just ahead, Elder Corbin. Alpha Dominic is out mapping new patrol routes at the moment, but he should return to meet with you shortly.' Beta Roux communicated to her as the four wolves that had traveled on either side broke away from their small group, leaving her to follow the Beta alone up the steps and into the Pack House.

It truly was a lovely manor. Three stories high and designed much like an old Victorian home, it was quite the sight to behold, and the inside was no disappointment either.

Everything had been tastefully decorated, from the plush seating to the carpet, from the soft cream colored walls to the paintings that they adorned.

Well, at least it is tasteful. she thought to herself as she followed the other wolf up the grand staircase and to the second floor, where she was lead into what appeared to be a study.

'This is the Alpha's office.. please make yourself comfortable.' the Beta informed her, to which she only gave a nod, and without warning, began to shift back to her human form; much to the Beta's startled surprise.

Where the dappled wolf once stood was now a lean, curvy woman with ivory skin and lush, curly black hair that bounced to the middle of her back; the soft curve of her bottom the only asset on display to the Beta that stood there at a loss for words.

"Thank you, Beta Roux. You have been an excellent guide." she spoke, her voice soft and sweet as she reached into her pack and began to dress herself.

Nudity was a common occurrence when one was a werewolf, especially after shifting. Besides, she was comfortable enough in her own skin to easily shift whenever she pleased, nude or not.

'I have informed Alpha Dominic of your arrival.. he.. will be with you shortly.' and with a bow of his mighty head, he left her to wait for the Alpha's arrival.

This.. scent..? she thought quietly to herself the moment the Beta disappeared down the stairs, her nostrils flaring as she tried to recognize the enticing smell.

She began to inhale the room's heady scent, her wolf, even though contented from the day's run, began to stir beneath her skin excitedly.

Without a doubt, something was going on. Never before had her wolf been so.. elated.

Hell, the beast was yipping so fast that she couldn't catch a single thought of her's.

Calm down, what's wrong with you? Are we in danger? she inwardly questioned her other half as she excitedly paced her mind with no obvious intention of slowing down her incoherent stream of thoughts and yips.

The scent in the room was faint, but distracting all the same. Just what the hell was going on?

Before she could even attempt to think further on the matter, the door the the office slammed open, the hinges broken as a wide eyed and panting male burst into the room, which caused her to swiftly turn on her heel into a defensive position.

Her stance dropped the moment her gaze landed on the intruder, her mind drawing blank as her wolf's thoughts finally slowed down enough for the meaning to become clear to her.

e.. te.. ate.. mate.. Mate.. MATE! her wolf howled within her as the full force of the scent she had caught in the study earlier hit her head-on and took the air from her lungs.

She inhaled sharply, trying to regulate her breathing, but only succeeded in enhancing the overwhelming sensations that coursed throughout her body.

A soft, satisfactory growl reached her ears, and it only took her a brief moment to realize it had been the male as he began to stalk towards her, his eyes shining a bright silver as they hungrily raked over her body.

"Mine..!"
