Chapter xis
"She's dead." What. Who is? A slight British accent was hinted.
"No she's not you dimwit!" Another voice said, more feminine and young this time, this one too had the accent.
"Prove it! I still think she's dead. She looks dead. Look, no one alive could sleep through that construction work a few blocks across the street. " The first voice spoke louder.
I groaned, scrunching up my face and flipping to the other side of the bed. WAIT. This wasn't my bed. This wasn't soft and bouncy, it's more of the opposite. Where's my bolster?
I felt a jolt of pain run through my cheeks as something solid and hard came into contact with my delicate skin. My eyes shot open and I faced two brunettes with bright blue eyes a shade brighter than mine. The female one had her hand inches away from my face. "What was that for! Where am I? Who are you!" A bunch of questions left my mouth.
The girl's lips parted as she scratched her head before apologizing. The guy was actually pretty cute as he outstretched an arm to help me up, part of what attracted me to him was the accent, no denying that. I gladly took his offer and stood up from the cement ground. "You kind of just slept on the ground. We were just taking a morning walk and I thought you were dead. Are you homeless? We could maybe take you in for a while." The guy worriedly rattled, looking apologetic.
"I'm not homeless. Actually I got lost on my way home. Could you tell me where Clover Cove 32 is?" I asked, hoping they knew. They gave each other a confused look and the girl who stood at my height pointed at the mailbox. "This IS Clover Cove 32. "
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. My eyes widened in horror and I gritted my teeth. I then facepalmed myself, smacking my forehead repeatedly as the two brunettes stared at me, concerned. If I hadn't been so lazy to check how far I was from my own house, I could have just slept in my comfy bed. I slept outside my own house. Damn.
"Well hi anyways. I live here actually. I'm Genevieve Henderson, haven't seen you around the neighbourhood though." I smiled, patting the dirt off my butt. "We're just here on a holiday, staying at a cousin's house. I'm Brennan Roberts. This is Julia, my younger sister." Brennan grinned, introducing themselves.
I lifted my eyebrows and giggled. Julia Roberts, good one parents! "See you around! I've gotta get back." They waved and walked away from my house. Prepared for my demise, I tiptoed gently, pushing the front door slowly, revealing the family on the couch watching some show without me. My fear was gone and it was replaced with anger and hurt.
"Did you forget about me? I thought you guys would be worried! Where is the love?" I whined, storming in front of them, blocking their view of the show. "Oh honey we saw you sleeping outside since yesterday but we felt no need to trouble your beauty sleep. Let's just make it Punishment 3 alright?" Dad gestured for me to move away from the TV and I switched it off, earning shouts from the rest of the family.
I unplugged the cable and glared at them. "The nerve of you people to leave me out there, it was cold and I could have been kidnapped or something!" I folded my arms, exaggerating. Chase placed a finger on his chin as if thinking then spoke, "Hm so let me think of all the people who want to kidnap you," His face contorted before continuing, "Ah the list is empty. Who would want to kidnap YOU? I mean hey it's alright if they kidnap me cuz I'm hot but you... Not so much." He fanned himself dramatically.
Rolling my eyes, I plugged the TV back on and they cheered with glee. The show was better than my return. I stormed off to my room and I drew a plan of the house, marking out the possible hiding places of the contract I signed with an X. I was going to do whatever it takes to break that ridiculous contract. I squinted and thought of the place I should start with.
