Ash's backstory

Note: Ash's cause of death is Hanahaki Disease, it's a fictional disease, you probably never heard or know about it, so I suggest you should read this before first you got confused:

Hanahaki Disease is a fictional disease in which the victim coughs up flower petals when they suffer from one-sided love. It ends when the beloved returns their feelings (romantic love only; strong friendship is not enough), or when the victim dies. It can be cured through surgical removal, but when the infection is removed, the victim's romantic feelings for their love also disappear. Credit: wikipedia

During the high school days of Ash, he was known as "The Cupid" in the whole school, as he brought couples together successfully, their relationship even lasted for a long time. His other talent was gardening, so instead of the staff, he volunteered to take care of the school garden, and it changed so much that the couples that Ash had brought together even started to date in the school garden. At that moment, the school garden became the most romantic place in the school and Ash's "workplace". Ash himself was charming to some girls, sometimes they tried to ask him out, but Ash rejected all of them, as he wanted to find the love of his life. Obviously he helped the girls he rejected to find theirs too.

One day, a female student visited the school garden, as the flowers caught her eyes' attention. And there the girl and "The Cupid" first met each other. The girl said her name was Jasmine. Everyday from that day on, during break-time, Jasmine will always be at the school garden and talk with Ash. Before he realized, Ash soon developed feelings for Jasmine. Ash decided not to tell anybody, as he didn't want to ruin this friendship they had already.

One day, out of curiosity, Ash asked Jasmine if she likes anyone, Jasmine replied yes. She said it was Alexander, the vice president of the school. Ash was prepared for any answer that Jasmine had, but he never expected it would be Alexander. Apparently, Alexander was Ash's best friend. As "The Cupid", he can't selfishly force Jasmine to erase her feelings for Alexander just to Jasmine all for himself, so he acted as if it's nothing. Ash decided to help Jasmine to win over Alexander's heart. Jasmine herself never knew Alexander was Ash's best friend, so is that Ash has a crush on her.

Days pass by, Ash soon starts coughing out blood. He thought it's not a big deal at first, cause' all he cares about is bringing both his crush and best friend together. The day finally came when he brought the two together on their first date. Everything goes well, but unexpectedly Ash kept coughing out blood with flower petals, til' he fainted. When Ash woke up, Alexander was worried to death and asked him what happened to him. Ash didn't want to worry him even more, so he lied to him saying he just lacked too much sleep, though Ash himself doesn't really know what happened. Alexander trusted him without worrying any further.

More days had come, Ash started unable to breathe properly, eventually he had to buy himself an inhaler. His condition started to get worse days by days, as his face became paler. Alexander started worrying again and told Ash to take a break from his "work", Ash quickly agreed.

At a time, when Ash was in the toilet, he couldn't stop coughing blood with flower petals again, that's the time he finally realized he had hanahaki disease. Even if he got the choice of having an operation, when the other option is to make Jasmine love him back, he decided not to. He thought he could bear the pain a little bit longer, that it might eventually go away, and he will be cured.

But he was wrong.

One day, he decided to stay in the school garden after school. And that's when his time's up.

He died.

The next day, Jasmine was visiting the school garden as usual, but with Alexander this time. Soon they found Ash's body in a pool of flowers. They discovered blood all over his face and hands. They thought Ash had fainted again, but when they touched his body.

It was cold dead.

Both Jasmine and Alexander were traumatized, they were so happy together, but never knew what their friend had been gone through.

Years had passed, both Jasmine and Alexander got married, though they still haven't get over Ash's death. The couple always visited the school garden as where Ash's grave belongs for some reason. Sometimes they can feel Ash's spirit nearby.

What happened to Ash afterlife? The school garden was still the most romantic place in school. Rumours were said that if both students truly love each other, the flower they planted together will bloom immediately. Because of Ash's death, people believed that Ash's spirit still remains at the school garden, continuing to bring couples together. Sooner or later, Ash was known as the "Flower Angel", as the school garden magically still remains the same.
