If you have this, then congratulations. I can only imagine what your situation is. I could go on guess after guess, but I'm just going to cut to the chase. I'm in a war zone and odds are my life will never be the way it used to...but I'm okay with that. I give you this as an attempt to describe what I'm going through. Now though, I might as well give you some knowledge on what transpired.

---One year ago---

I woke up at five in the morning, as always. I pulled my phone out from under my bed and quickly looked it over to see if I had any new messages. I passed by most of them, but the one that caught me was from Morrigan, and said "See you at the party John. It's going to be awesome!" I texted back that I would be there, then quickly changed and put on some clean clothes, a pair of black pants, and a pitch-black shirt. I don't know why, but I've always had a thing for black, no matter the occasion. Deal with it.

I then walked to the desk by my bed, turned on a small lamp, and started reading a copy of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus. Before you start going all "This kid is an emo vampire" I'm going to stop you right there. I do have emotions, and I do have a life. However, I will admit that I do have a few unusual interests. I'm into certain horror books, I have an interest in the occult and I have a deranged sense of humor. After I finished the book, I ran downstairs and made myself some breakfast. I'm no cook, but I can make a decent pizza. By the time I had finished eating it was six in the morning, so I hopped online and listened to some music, such as Woody Guthrie's This land is your land, and Stitches. The emo kid who listens to American and pop music. Such is life.

Eventually, I hopped onto my pale gray motorcycle and headed to the local garage. There, I met one of my best friends, Lucy Rose, working on a paint job for her new truck. I waited for her to finish before I approached her as I did not want to turn fiery red. Lucy always was wearing a back leather jacket, with tar-black combat boots. She looked up when she saw me, a smile on her face, " 'how you doing Mr. Motorcycles-are-better-than-trucks?' " she asked.

"I'm doing as good as I can 'Miss Red-is-better-than-gray".

I then proceeded to get punched in the arm. Hard. Very hard.

"Look," she said, "I don't care what you think, but trucks are better than motorcycles, and red is the best color ever. The end". I was about to make a reply to that comment but was quickly silenced by a death glare. If looks could kill. "So, what brings you to my neck of the woods?" she asked. "You only ever seem to come over if you have something stupid to tell me, as always." How I ended up being friends with a person like this, I will never know. Morrigan had that look in her eyes, the kind that hinted she had something inside her head and was grinning on the inside.

"Morrigan...if I should be running away right now...just tell me please." I said.

"Relax dude, its nothing...much." Leave it to her to hide the details from me. Typical." Lets just say things are going to be VERY unique at the party tonight." Knowing her that could mean that the DJ was ready to do their thing, or that the punch was poisoned, and I should stay home tonight. Did I mention that she can be like that sometimes?

"Gods so help me, if you added poison to the punch-"

"No, I did not add poison...yet." I was interrupted, "BUT, I did manage to get a fantastic costume!" In case I forgot to mention, tonight was Halloween, and both of us planed to be at the party. We were also bringing our friends, Rachel Noir, our local witch girl (She takes that as a complement), and Louis Blanc, our personal musician.

Eventually, the two of us left for the party, planning to help set it up before most of the others arrived. Little did we know that that night was going to be the last normal one we would have.
