Kakyoin x Reader: RED|STRING

Whether he knew the two of you were soulmates or not didn't matter to you. You were happy to just be by his side through his journey in Egypt, along with a few of his other friends. Every day you would think to yourself, I have a lifetime to tell him, and a thousand more after that. It can't hurt to wait one more day.

You regretted not telling him sooner.

You screamed out in agony as you watched his body fly through the air. Blood spurted from a giant hole in his stomach. You hadn't even seen Dio lay a finger on him, so how? How could this have happened?

"Noriaki!" You screeched through sobs, thick tears already streaking down your face as you ran as fast as you could towards the person who was bounded to you by the red string of fate. A maniacal laugh echoed out around you as you rushed to the only person you would ever be able to love.

"It's too late for him now, little darling. It's best to just leave him die in peace."

"Dio!" You came to a stop, spinning around to look up at the man who had just attacked Kakyoin as he lowered himself to the ground. He took calculated steps towards you. Your mind was blinded by sadness and rage. Even though you knew you were no match for the man before you, all you cared about was getting some kind of revenge. You rushed towards him, ready to throw your everything at him.

"A fool, just like the rest of them," Dio scoffed. "The world."

One moment you were running towards the evil vampire, the next you were being sent flying backwards. A wound matching Kakyoin's left a burning pain exploding throughout you. You ended up crashing into a water tower, right next to your soulmate. Your eyes dropped down to your pinky, noticing the red string was still connecting the two of you. It must have pulled you towards him, allowing you to be with him during your final moments.

You opened your mouth to speak, but only blood poured out. Kakyoin couldn't move his head, but you saw his pupils move to look at you through the corner of his eyes. Using what little strength he had left after using his emerald splash to shoot the clock tower in front of you, he grasped the finger wrapped in the red thread with his own. His grip was so cold. So cold, and so very weak. Tears continued to stream down your face, your heart shattering within your chest.

You had to tell him. No matter what was to become of you, you needed him to know that you had loved him through everything, and that you would find him in his life after this. And the life after that, and the one after that as well. You would find him in every lifetime you ever had until the earth hurtled itself into the melting sun and became no more. Even then, you would find him as a star. No matter what, you would not allow the red string of fate that joined you together to disappear.

"N-noriaki," blood spilled over your lips as your talked. Beads of tears slid down Kakyoin's face. All he wanted to do was tell you to stop talking, to save your strength and wait it out, they would find a way to save you somehow. But he couldn't, he had used the last of his strength in an attempt to expose Dio's stand power.

"T-the string.... It ties us together..." Kakyoin's lips quivered as he watched the color drain from your face. He knew what you wanted to tell him was important, but watching the only person he had ever grown to love fade away before his very eyes was unbearable. "The red string of fate..."

You went silent for a long while after that, and the boy besides you was filled with an immense feeling of hurt. He had no idea of you had passed already or not, and he couldn't bring himself to check.

"Y-y/n...?" Blood splattered onto the ground below as he coughed. Your head moved ever so slightly, just enough for you to look at him with both eyes. His face was ghostly, and the vibrant hues of his eyes were beginning to fade with each second that passed. Even though you knew he was dying, and you were dying, the love you held for the red haired boy only continued to grow.

"We'll find each other again," your voice came out smoother than you had expected. "The string, it tied us together in a past life and it'll tie us together in our next one. No matter what, Noriaki, we will always find each other."

Your pinky that was still interlocked with his tightened its grasp for a second before falling limp.

"And I will always love you."

Wow. I definitely just made myself cry while writing this because i may or may not be metaphorically deeply in love with Noriaki Kakyoin (in a sane way). I also wrote this like two hours after I finished rewatching Your Name and i overall love and whole heartedly believe in the idea of the red string of fate and i just feel as though kakyoin fits it perfectly.
