Changbin stared at the younger, stared as him as if he hung the stars. "O-oh right, it's fine. I'm fine." He managed to say, though he really wasn't fine. His crush, whom he'd liked for as long as he'd known just touched his lips. So of course he wasn't fine; but he definitely wasn't going to tell the younger.
The next step was to shape the cookies, which Felix deemed 'the fun part'. The process involved covering the majority of the bench top with flour, then rolling the dough flat. The clinking of the cookie cutters and Changbin's soft humming were the only sounds being heard in the kitchen, to the complete bliss of Felix's ears.
"What cookie cutter shapes do you usually use?" Changbin inquired, spinning a normal circle shaped one around his index finger.
"We usually use any, yeah, you can make your own shapes if you wanted to!" The freckled boy explained excitedly, "I like to make my own shapes and things, but Chan-hyung always says we should do circle ones because it's the mid-autumn festival." He finished with a pout adorned on his small, freckles features.
Changbin felt his heart combust for the nth time that day, and couldn't help but respond with a smile to the younger's cute expression, unbeknownst to the Australian boy. "We can make some circle ones but since Chan-hyung isn't here we could..."
"Make our own shapes!" The angelic boy finished enthusiastically.
"Exactly." Chamgbin patted himself on the back mentally, for making the angel smile, of course.
When Chan suggested (forced) Changbin to help Felix, it seemed that he forgot to warn him of a possibility of a heart attack. Changbin was (and still is) this close to pulling a Kabedon, as Jisung called it, on the sun-drenched boy.
Felix, on the other hand was trying his best not mess up again; placing the cookies on the baking tray carefully (with baking paper underneath of course) and perhaps sneaking a few glances at the dark-haired boy here and there. He couldn't help his heart shaking every time their eyes would meet by chance, then he would quickly direct his gaze at the cookies again, the all-too-familiar feeling of heated cheeks taking over his features.
The cookies only took exactly twenty-five minutes inside the oven; twenty-five minutes of cleaning the rest of the kitchen together, each trying not to do something they'd regret. Thankfully, Felix was a natural conversationalist, despite his speeding heart, so the two had a normal(?) conversation somehow not embarrassing themselves, though each would say otherwise.
The beeping of the oven interrupted the pair's conversation. As soon as they opened the oven, the mouth-watering smell of the multi-shaped cookies wafted into their nostrils.
"Hyung! Look, we did it!" Felix exclaimed happily, an almost contagious smile as he pointed to the cookies inside the oven.
Changbin couldn't help but chuckle at the younger boy, taking the oven gloves from the latter because he wouldn't forgive himself if he let the younger hurt himself.
After a good five minutes it was time for 'the great taste testing ceremony', Felix had called it, to which Changbin only nodded along, secretly cooing at the younger.
"Here! Try some!" Felix practically beamed at the older, holding the cookie out for him.
"Of course," 'beautiful.' He almost blurts out.
The taste of the cookie melted in his mouth, swallowing all of the buttery sweetness which seemed to be constantly reminding him of the angel in front of his eyes. He didn't know what came over him, but he felt a surge of courage; perhaps all his feelings on the brim of the tipping glass, ready to spill all over.
The pounding of Changbin's heart was loud in his own ears as he reached out to caress the younger's cheeks, freckled and flushed.
"H-hyung?" Felix's eyes widened, feeling shocked by the sudden move but still returned Changbin's lovestruck stare.
"There's a crumb on your face." The latter replied, entranced in the loving motions of his hand against the younger's sun-kissed skin.
"Oh." Was the only sound Felix managed to make, feeling like a lovesick fool; perhaps so foolish that he dared to lean on the hand ever-so-slightly.
The next thing he knew, Changbin started leaning in, Felix felt his eyes flutter shut and his heart going haywire yet the only thing he was able to do was stand still and close his eyes.
The best feeling in the world; Changbin's soft vermillion lips pressed against his own light pink ones. It felt natural, like two matching puzzle pieces finally fitting together, it was a feeling of lightness. Changbin felt like he could conquer the whole world with one hand, only if Felix would hold the other.
It was like forever in five seconds before Felix pulled away blushingly, catching his breath (because he forgot to breathe), too embarrassed to even spare a glance for the older. Changbin nervously scratched the back of his neck, eyes flickering from here to there, refusing to stare at the angel for too long as he too, was quite flushed.
"O-oh uh— I gotta go now, my mum wants me back home for dinner." Changbin stuttered nervously.
"Right. Yeah, of course. Uh—" Felix paused, trying to arrange a normal sentence in his head. "I'll see you out."
And so Felix found himself waving goodbye to his crush, who just, well— took his first kiss.
'I hope you're ready to catch me.'
