A/NThis story is set in an alternate reality, so the characters in this book are only using the names, looks and characters of the members. It doesn't have any relation to the real people, as this is for fun only and because I love to write❤️我爱你❤️

There are many mysteries in this world. Some don't matter as much as others but those 'others' could change your life forever. There was always something mysterious about my parents and then when my brother and best friend disappeared with no questions asked, I realised that my life was about to unfold into one of those 'others' and that it would never go back.

The grass was moving like lightning beneath Iris's feet. Then it wasn't. She was led, face first in the muddy puddle. She would never be free forever. The boots were getting closer. The arms around her own appeared. She couldn't struggle. She was paralyzed. As she was lifted up she saw the blue sky. The green trees, the birds. Then the blanket of grey ashes. The skeletons of branches, the bones. Then white.

There was the light. Then the masked figure. She was trapped. He lowered the metal instrument and-

I jolt up before I can see what I haven't ever seen before. That was always the end. A thick stream of white light streaks past my face.

They're here!

I scream in my head. If I get caught I'm done for good. The whole world is done for good. The sudden bark of a dog shoves me upright and I scramble for my bag. I leap up, slinging my bad over my right shoulder and bolt for the door. This isn't good.

I dart around the back of the abandoned building that I was taking refuge in and onto the dawn-lit market. Sneaking around the bodies (both breathing and not)I run down the market street. I had a way out. I just needed time.

"STOP!" I snap my head up to see a uniform clad man chasing after me. No. No. Please no. I quickly change direction and run towards the man. This had better work! 5 meters until I hit him. 4. 3. 2. 1.

I cut off and run down the alley. Yes! I circle around and check for any sign of him or his comrades who are here somewhere. No-one. Good. I lead through a low window on the ground floor of the nearest building. Empty. Like most of them. I move across the concrete rapidly, my boots thumping hard, jumping through windows and doors until there are none left at my advantage. I come out again on the market. No officers. Good.

I sprint harder so, when a stall comes crashing down I front of me I stumble down with it. No. Knees, hands and face as smear of blood, the stinging is almost unbearable. I get up and keep going. I can't give up now. Times running out, Iris

One of them grappled my arm and pulled me aside, into a dark alley. Mabpybe it has already run out. Then there is a hand slapped across my mouth and something cold pressed to my temple. A gun. Oh God.

"I want to help you." What? "Follow me." Australian.

No better option, I gingerly run behind the masked figure, an accessory that scared me a little. But his voice's absent and meaningful tone made me follow obediently, like a dog. We kept to the shadows cautiously.

He lead me into another abandoned building, windowless and burnt like a crisp, just like them all, and up the concrete stairs. This must have been an office block. When we finally stop we are at the top of the building, below a hatch. An attic hatch. It's old and wooden, deep in the grey leaking ceiling. Reaching up, the man pulls it open and crouches slightly, two finger locked hands at knee height. He looks at me with chocolate eyes. Oh. I put one foot on the platform or fingers and jump slightly as he pushes up. I grab onto the ledge and easily hoist myself onto the top floor. The man follows., swiftly and without any help. Huh. He then closes the hatch and then slides a metal plate over the top. I am then pulled towards the back corner of the room, where we are shielded from view in the window but so that the light still allows enough vision. Then he removes his mask.

He is really young. Handsome too. Oh my. Snap! My jaw is snapped shut by one of his fingers. Long. Elegant fingers. He laughs an angelic laugh and brushes back his hair back with his hand. His beautiful, blonde, rose tinted hair.

He offers me a bottle of water. Thank god I'm so thi- wait a second. I hesitate to take this from a complete stranger. If there's one thing I've learnt it's not to trust anyone. Ever.

"It's not open." His Australian accent reminded me of the fire. All that fire. There was a tear in my eye, stinging it's way to my heart. All those people.

"Thanks." I take the bottle and unscrew the lid easily, taking a big gulp. It ran down to my stomach all cold and refreshing.

"It looks like you've been living rough." He smiles.

"Yeah. For about a month now."

"Well then you should get some rest. Now you will sleep." Sleep?

I felt my body falling. And falling. And-
