Sarah : 10 years later.

She shoved all of her clothes and things into suitcases not caring to fold them or check to see if they were OK. They just didn't matter to her any more. The only thing she cared about enough to bring with her was already being shipped over along with her mums car.

The sooner she got out of this country the better.

She grabbed her make-up off of her dresser and dumped it all into one of the suitcases ignoring the sound of something cracking and continued dumping more things in. She was working automatically not thinking about things, just doing.

Her mum was downstairs talking to the police in fast French and even from upstairs you could hear her raised voice.

"That son of a b*tch needs to be put in prison!!!" she yelled and Sarah heard a bang on the table.

Sarah could almost see her mum glaring at the police angrily with that tone. She sighed. There was nothing her mum could say. He was too clever to get caught. A shiver ran through her at the thought of him and the feeling of dread took over as she sat down on the ground breathing deeply trying to catch her breath.

She could hear one of the police officers try to calm her mum down speaking in rapid French.

"Mrs. Malone we're doing everything we can but we have no evidence that it was him who harmed your daughter."

"HAVE YOU SEEN MY DAUGHTERS FACE?!? ISN'T THAT EVIDENCE ENOUGH?!?" her mum shouted loudly.

Sarah got up shakily and continued to take things from her dresser making sure not to look in the mirror while she did it. She was sure she would burst into tears if she did. It would be a while before it completely healed. A reminder of the big mistake she made, one that she vowed never to make again.

A few minutes later her mum came up to her and stood in the doorway. She stood there watching her before she spoke.

"Sarah." she said barely over a whisper and Sarah could hear the agony in her voice. She looked over at her mum and sure enough there were tears in her eyes as she came over and hugged her.

"Sarah, I am so sorry. I should have been here." she said into her hair.

Sarah let a tear slip out but quickly wiped it away with the sleeve of her hoodie before her mum could see.

"Mum you had to work, You couldn't have known." she said pulling back and smiling, hoping it would look convincing to her mum. The last thing she wanted was to show that she was scared of him, that he haunted her dreams turning them into her worst nightmares every night. She wouldn't give him the satisfaction.

"But we're going mum, we're leaving!!!! A new start and I can forget all about this and move on." she said while she zipped up the overflowing suitcases. Her voice sounded empty and lifeless even to her but she ignored it and closed the last suitcase.

"I don't want to just forget about it Sarah. I want him put in jail for what he's done to you." her mum said angrily. She heard a faint tap on the door and looked over to see Jason walk in. She immediately ran over and hugged him.

"Hey to you too sis." he laughed pulling back to look at her.

"You look a mess, I will kill that frickin bastard for doing this to you." he said angrily clenching his fists. Sarah cringed. Her brother was 17, only a year older than her, but he was massive and really tall compared to her. He was 6 ft tall and was a pro at fighting. She had often seen him fight other guys. It also came in handy sometimes. Having a brother teach her how to fight since she was little had its advantages.
