3 years ago, King Enji's daughter, Princess Y/N, was kidnapped by a group of people, named the League of Villains, and was locked up in a tower with not one, but two dragons to guard the entrance. The whole kingdom grieved over the loss of the princess, but the king would not give up. He sent many knights to the tower, promising them that if they managed to save the princess, they would have her hand in marriage and a small fortune. Many knights came, but they were all too weak to free the princess from the grasps of the vicious dragons.
Or that's what you wanted them to think.
Despite how he acted around the public, Enji Todoroki is not a good man. You figured that out at a very young age. Ever since you and your twin brother, Shoto, were born, your father had treated you both differently from the rest of your siblings. You were both forced to train hard, although not as much as Shoto, because he was destined to be king.
You and your twin both had different colored eyes, and while he had his fire magic on his left side and ice magic on his right side, you had it on opposite sides. Magic is very common, but it was the fact that you both could use 2 different kinds of magic that was rare. It was also the reason that you and your brother both were suited for the throne. The thing that decided who was going to be king or queen is that he was born approximately 2 minutes before you. He never held it against you, though, and you never held it against him.
After your oldest brother, Toya, ran away, you'd had enough. You hired a group of people called the League of Villains to 'kidnap' you, and had your two best friends, Kirishima and Mina, come with you. It's surprising what people will do for the right amount of money.
You met Kirishima and Mina at a young age. You would often sneak out of the castle and into the woods. There, you met two wandering dragons, and seeing that you weren't scared of them, the three of you became best friends. You would meet them out in the woods until your father had caught you outside 'alone'. Although you were not allowed out of your room without supervision anymore, the two dragons always liked to fly up to your balcony and talk to you in their human form.
The League had locked you into a surprisingly roomy tower, and since you had company, you didn't mind much. In fact, it was the best life you could have. Without being under the rule of your father, you could do pretty much whatever you wanted. You were able to go outside, you could wear pants, you could even go to the next town over if you really wanted to since nobody had ever seen you or your twin before. It was the best life a princess could have.
Soon enough, your father started sending people to come 'free' you from the tower, but they were never able to get past your two friends, one spitting acid, and the other breathing fire. If they ever did come close to hurting your dragons, you would just finish the job yourself. Being in a tower gives you time to do a lot, like learn how to fight properly using a sword.
Two years passed and the king still has't given up sending people to come and get you, but you were persistent, telling yourself that you're never going back. When knights did come, you'd look down on the window and decide if the dragons should go easy on them or just kill them right away. One time, an old man came to try to 'save' you, and you just told the dragons to eat him without a second thought. Sometimes, good looking men try to 'save' you, and you tell the dragons to let him try. They never survive in the end, either getting killed by the dragons, or getting killed by you.
Killing people doesn't bother you as much as it did before. When you first got to the tower, just the idea of killing was enough to give you nightmares, but when you first saw your best friends on the verge of death, that was enough to give you motivation to save them. You decided that you weren't going to take that risk again, so when they get too close to hurting the two dragons, you would jump in and finish the job. Besides, who would expect the princess of all people to stop her 'knight in shining armor'?
