Coffee

It wasn't as awkward as I had though it was going to be. It was actually very nice, in a quaint little cafe with a soft chatter of other customers keeping us from falling into complete silence, both sipping at our steaming cups of coffee. It was almost as if we understood each other, as if the silence was comforting and we didn't need to talk to have a good time.

I loved it.

Never before had silence felt so good, especially when in the company of another, but he just... he made it alright somehow. Perhaps it was because we were both so similar, quite and nervous and insecure. Or maybe we just liked the quite and that was all there was to it. I don't know. I just know it was pleasant, and I wouldn't really hesitate to do it again.

I didn't even mind that I would catch him looking at me every now and then. Perhaps it was just because I was so relaxed, because the cafe, the atmosphere, just made me feel at home, which I never really was familiar with. I can't really say.

But when he smiled at me as we caught eyes, I couldn't help but smile back, albeit it was barely there, just a twitch of my lips, but still.

And the coffee, it was just so good I couldn't help but order another.
