Morning rush in New York was a hard pill to swallow. The sight of the bustling crowd
the noise of traffic and people chattering about, the smell of car fumes and damp air was a threat to one's sanity and safety.
With a deep breath Ahn Hyo Seop fixed his coat and trudged the cold and busy streets of Manhattan.
Checking his watch it's 7:40 am. Where did the time go?
He quickened his pace dodging the influx of people, needing to reach the subway by 8 o'clock.
"Excuse me! Sorry! Passing through!"
"Hey!"
"Watch it!"
"Watch where you're going dude!"
"In a hurrry much?"
He didn't care about their grumbling despite the fact he knew he's being rude.
Known to many as the typical procrastinator, easy going type and laid back person extraordinaire, strangely, he was desperate to be in the train station on time.
Because you see there's those pair of beautiful hazel doe eyes...
Flashback
He boarded the train and surprisingly found an empty seat at this hour and settled himself comfortably. He closed his eyes still half asleep since he's rarely out of bed at this time.
But he needed to see Prof. Adams before the man left for Germany. Prof. Robert Adams was known for his photography incorporated in paintings. His take on this rare and eccentric form of art made him quite famous in the art world.
Ahn Hyo Seop had always loved photography and painting since he was young. He could create a different world just by looking through the lenses and with just the clicks of his finger. And with painting it gave him a peace of mind and he could make stories unfold through brushes and vibrant colors.
Although his mother was supportive about it, she was the one who paved the way for his interest in art after all, it was something his father never understood.
He used to be a trouble maker and a hot headed kid. A family friend suggested to his mother to enroll him in an art class to divert his attention and stop being a pain in the ass. And well the rest was history.
However, being temperamental and creating trouble was never totally subdued, the art did help to control it.
His father on the other hand, was not amused with his fascination with it. Ahn Tae Geun known as the silent tiger in the corporate world was a clear cut and pragmatic type of man which made him a successful entrepreneur who owns Ahn Corporation. A massive and one of the top real estate company in Asia as well as in hospitality and banking industries.
And as his only son he was very adamant that Hyo Seop learned the ins and outs of the business as soon as possible.
So at 16 he was already sitting with his father in board room meetings wearing uncomfortable stiff business suits listening uninterestedly to boring monthly reviews and looking at graphs that he barely understood at that time while thinking that his friends were out there having fun.
And so he formed a resentment against his father. And that resentment deepened when he made sure he had no time for his photography and painting. His father believed they were senseless and irrelevant.
But that never stopped him from his passion though, during the meetings he would sketch caricatures of the board members to keep him from dozing off and amuse himself.
