Chapter 10 - Auditioning for the Sequel

Start from the beginning

On the poster, there was a blonde teenage girl, maybe about nineteen years old. She was trying to run away from something, or maybe someone, her face showed fear. Behind her, hands smeared with blood were reaching out to grab her. It was a horror movie.

"Silent Hill Revelation 2D." I read out the name of the movie. Austin came up to me and looked at the poster I was staring at and said "Hey, they made a movie out of this book!" I looked at him, confused.

"What do you mean?" I asked him.

"I've read a book named Silent HillRevelation. I think they made a movie out of that book." He said.

"Well I haven't read the book." I said, hoping that this will stop him from choosing to watch this movie.

"Let's watch this movie." Austin said. Shit.

"Uhm, alright." I said indifferently and we paid for the movie over the counter. The whole time I told myself that I can watch the movie. The movie can't really be that scary.

"You want anything to eat?" Austin asked me. "Yeah. Pop-corn and Pepsi." I said. He went to the food stall and queued in line while I stood in the corner.

It's not that I am a scaredy cat. I can watch horror movies but I usually don't because I hate seeing faces filled with blood or violence. I've only watched a few horror movies at home with my mom and ended up seeing ghosts and zombies in my dreams and everywhere around me. This will be the first time ever for me to watch a horror movie in a cinema so I'll have to stop myself from screaming when I see something scary. I'll have to be brave in front of Austin. I don't want him to think that I am a chicken. Which, I am.

"Here you go." Austin came, making me snap out of my thoughts. I took my pop-corn and pepsi from his hand and we entered the Cinema hall and sat on our assigned seats which was in the last row. There were not many people at the back. There were just a group of boys a row infront of us and a couple sitting a few seats away from Austin.

"So you said you read this book. How was it?" I asked Austin as we waited for the movie to start.

"The book was amazing. It had many violent and scary-" He said and got interrupted.

The screen started playing and I placed both of my elbows on the arms of the seat and braced myself for the movie.

The movie starts. It shows the protagonist having a dream where there is a big fire and in that fire, people are burning to ashes, then the protagonist wakes up from her dream, all covered in sweat. Her father hugs her and comforts her and out of nowhere, she stabs her father in the back with a knife then she snaps out of her dream again.

Alright. Let me digest this. So she was having a dream in her dream. So the starting of the movie made me a little freaked out. How am I going to watch the whole movie? I looked to my right. Austin looked at me, smiling.

"This is fucking awesome!" He whispered, a wide grin on his face. I gave a nervous laugh. Oh, dear lord!

I managed to last almost half of the movie without screaming or puking. At first, I tried to sleep but that wasn't possible because the damn protagonist's screams made my ears bleed and well Austin kept commenting about the scene, constantly saying "That was a good one." or "Damn, that girl is hot!" Then I tired to think of something to distract myself from the movie but panda bears don't really do the trick when the screams of the girl fills the entire hall . I was eating pop-corn and was totally lost in my own world, thinking how I am ever going to confront Max once the school resumes when Austin slashed his way into my wondering bubble and said "The coming scene is epic!" I could see the outlines of his face in the dark. He seemed so excited,  like the way Andy was when I took him to the field. I decided to actually check out the 'epic' scene for Austin's sake. Just as I turned to look at the screen, I see a nurse and she suddenly starts to stab a man right in his eye using the sharp end of a scissor. It was disgusting and horrifying and the scene caught me by surprise just like my scream caught Austin by surprise. My hand flew up to grip Austin's arm and the box of pop-corn fell from my lap and the popcorn scattered all over the floor. Austin instantly picked up the pop-corn box and placed it on the empty seat beside him.
