Rajavel took his bike and went straight to The Coffee Hut. The coffee shop where Pavithra and Arun had planned to meet. Rajavel had million thoughts running in his mind. He always wanted to be a better policeman. He wanted to be the sharp and shrewd cop, like the one in stories. He wanted to be like Vishwanath Ravichandran. Every single time he gets a thought that he may be ahead of Vishwa, he is beaten by a more talented Vishwa. If Vishwa had the urge to solve the case, Rajavel was looking every possible opportunity to pull down Vishwa, trying to make him understand his worth. Trying to make him realise that Rajavel is not another of those thousands of Sub Inspectors in the department. Slowly it has turned intoan obsession. He even thought of killing Vishwa for being abnormally smart. That was the peak of his obsession.
With these thoughts running in his mind, he was cursing himself for missing out to verify the CCTV footages of the coffee shop.
He slowly turned the knob of the crystal clear glass door which rang a bell tied with a ribbon on top of the door.
On hearing the bell sound, the entire cafe, responded with a thanks note for dropping by on their first anniversary. Rajavel was a bit embarrassed to enquire during their celebratory mood. Still, he made up his mind and talked with the manager for a quick moment and within few minutes Rajavel was with Karthi, the waiter who had given the statement to him during the initial stages of enquiry.
'Karthi right?' he began
'Yes sir. Karthi Mahendran' he responded
'Can you recollect what happened that day and tell me in detail?' he asked
'Sir the girl came to cafe at around 7 pm. She was anxiously waiting for someone. She even called someone many times, but no one answered the call. Around 8 pm, she got a call and she stepped out of the cafe to meet someone. She had not ordered anything nor eaten anything, so we didn't care much for her leaving the shop' he replied
'You said you didn't care much, then how you remember so much intricate details?' Rajavel's tone sounded a bit authoritative
'Sir, adhu vandhu....' He scratched his head with a glee, that could easily make Rajavel understand that he was watching her, crudely put site adikardhu
'Puridhu puridhu. You said she got in a car. Can you tell anything about the car?' he asked
'Sir it was a Old Maruti car sir. 800 I think.' he responded
'Colour?' Rajavel was quick to shoot the questions in Vishwa Style.
'The colour was not clear sir. Light was not proper.' he replied
'Ok, I want the CCTV footages of the incident. Where it will be available?' He asked
'Sir someone from your department came and took the entire footage sir.' he replied
This shook Rajavel. He wasn't prepared for this.
'Yaaru. Did he introduced himself name something? Rajavel asked anxiously
'Malayali sir. He introduced himself as .... Rony. Rony sir. His name is Rony' Karthi responded.
Rajavel left the shop with loads of confusions. Why the hell he would have taken the footage. Even if he was trying to help us, why he never spoke about it. I have to inform Vishwa, it might worry him more. But there's no other option. I have to tell him about Rony and his involvement in the case. Rony. SI Rony Varghese
