After Lisa finally accepted the fact that Jack was actually there, she introduced him to her friends: 'Guys, this is my... brother, Jack. Jack, these are my best friends, Emma, Mrya and Alfie.' But when she asked him to sit down, he shook his head and said softly, 'Sorry, Lisa, but I've got to go say hi to... mom... and dad.'
And suddenly, Lisa was reminded of the day he left, and that made her freeze.
'Be careful.', she whispered, and Jack said, without looking her in the eyes, 'Of course, Lisa! I-' he faltered at the look on Lisa's face...
This was not enough for Lisa, not after 5 years of waiting patiently. Her lips trembling, tears gathering in her eyes, her voice shaking, she said, 'Jack... promise me you'll be safe... promise me...' and Jack, realising what she meant, looked into her watery eyes with his own now reassuring ones and said, 'I promise. I will be safe, Lisa... for you.' And with that, he got up, gave her a last hug and left for home, after 5 years.
