He stared at me with those green eyes and sternly said, "Because you're not her."

The wind died down and only silence could be heard. My words abandoned me and I couldn't find anything to say to come back. I couldn't move and time felt like it stood still for that one moment.

A loud bomb sound broke the silence and screaming from the city. I looked toward the city and I saw a huge smoke cloud rising up to the grayish sky and the screaming was ear curling and everyone else was emotionaliness.

"What was that?" I asked while saying some of the words shakily.

" Hearts' men. " murmured Blood.

"Who's Hearts' men?" I asked out of concern.

March tenses up and started shaking a little,  he spoke as quickly as he could, "They're the men that works for Hearts and they obey whatever she commands. She's crazy with power. No one can stop her. She's cruel. She's one of the reasons why Wonderland is like this."

"She hates any color except for black, white and all the shades of red. And blood is red so she likes seeing that a lot. She hates any hope." Percy quietly said.

"But why?" I asked while I was confused.

"She was jealous." Mumbled Blood. He put out his cigarette and stood up.

March lift his head up and looked at Blood, "Huh? You're leaving already?"

" Just going to Maid and Slave. I'll be back a bit later than usual." Blood murmured.

Darcy gave out a sigh, "Again? That's the fourth time in a row. You usually never go that often."

"I just need to get my mind off of some things." Then he went out into the forest and walked the dirt path.

"What's Maid and Slave?" I asked while not wanting to know the answer.

"It's like a brothel, and a strip, and entertainment. " Percy said as he drank a sip of the tea. I can't see how anyone can drink this tea. It's like an energy drink mixed with a whole bag if sugar together.

"So a whore house, right? " I said to make sure.

"Basically. But that idiot. I don't know why he wants to go now. It's not even open and especially when  Hearts' men are in town." Percy groaned.

" Maybe he sees something he likes who works there." Darcy predicted as she add more sugar into her tea.

" Blood can't fall in love. Not after what happened." March stated as he popped off a cap from a beer bottle.

"Why are you drinking this early?!" questioned Percy.

"What happened?" I asked shortly after Percy.

" 'Cause I'm better when I'm not sober up. And I can't tell you, um..... Alice." March added my name awkwardly as if he doesn't like calling me Alice at all.

"So back to Hearts. Why is Wonderland like this? Was it always like this?" I asked.

"No, it used to be lively and green everywhere. Life everywhere and smiles to be seen on everyone's faces and laughter to be heard instead of screams. Women wore colors as so did the men too. The tea parties used to be more fun and more to look forward to. The tea used to be not this spiked on sugar and the sky used to be blue as......" March took in a deep breath and closed his eyes, "like Alice's eyes. She was the heart of Wonderland.  She was the one who brought Wonderland to life. You couldn't help to smile when you heard her laughter or see her smile. She was indeed a bit young, but she was loved by everyone."

"Then how did Wonderland became so bad?" I asked.

March chugged the whole bottle down and threw it on the ground as it shattered. "At that time, Blood was referred to Hatter or to little Alice, Mr. Hatter. Little Ms. Alice loved to play with Blood all the time and eventually he grew a soft side for her and she was the most precious thing to him. He was about 14 or 15 at the time and little Ms. Alice was about 10 or 11.

" Around that time, as well, Hearts just got crowned and she wanted a King. Her and Blood were pretty close to each other basically since birth. But with Hearts, she was madly in love with Blood, but Blood's heart was already taken."

"By little Alice right?"

"Partly correct. He didn't start liking her until she was a little older. But no matter what age she was, she was his most precious. He cared for her a lot." He stopped for a moment and grabbed another bottle.

"Then how did things came to be like this?"

"Be patient. " he reposition himself and his eyes turned watery and was not focusing on anything or anyone. " Hearts got jealous and Blood kept rejecting her and always spend time with Alice. Hearts had enough and something happened and she went crazy. She commanded the guards to kill little miss Alice and whatever town people who gets in the way but don't harm Blood......" then he became quiet and didn't want to talk anymore and slip into depression as he kept drinking.

I didn't know what to say. I want to talk to Blood but I also want to know Percy's and Darcy's story. Were they alive before?  Were they always like this? A porcelain China doll? What's Chester's connections with Alice?  I want to know more but I'm pretty sure they won't tell me anything because I'm an outsider that has a name of a little girl that they love and they hate me.

I stood up and asked, "Where's the brothel?"

"So many questions. Blood doesn't want to see you so better not go. It's pretty bad to be on his bad side." Percy said in a monotone voice.

"Percival. I can tell you but it's best not to go and distrub Blood." Darcy warned me.

"But where should I stay for the meantime?" I asked.

"Hm. I think we have room in our home. Blood does have a lot more room, but it's the best if you don't spend a night there. There's a lot of drinking, smoking and other things......" Darcy trailed out her words.

"I don't want her to spend a night or even be in our home!" Yelled Percy.

"Percival! She have no where to go! She's going be killed or kidnapped or be sold to." Scolded Darcy.

"Let her be killed! Better yet, eaten. Or let her stay at Hearts. If she was Alice I would let her but she's not!"

And after some more arguing and a passed out rabbit later, I ended up spending a night at their house. Percy is really upset that Darcy won the argument and doesn't even want to look at me.

We arrived to a little doll house that was surrounded by a dead garden and hanging dead trees. Darcy opened the door as Percy already walked in and went straight to his room.

"Please excuse the mess and Percival's behavior. " Darcy said as I entered through the door.

Their house is so big just for the two of them. There was a violin and a cello in a corner, a dining room with China plates and dishes with a white table cloth on it, the wall paper is chipping away and the paint is fading away, the kitchen was dim and hard to tell what was in there.

Darcy began walking to a room as I followed her. She opened a door and showed a decent size room with a bed, some windows, a night stand, a closet and a connecting bathroom.

"Here's your room. Percival's room is upstairs, the last door on the left, my room is upstairs and the first right door. Better if you knock on my door instead of grumpy up there." She smiled.

"How come you're nice to me?" I asked.

"Why shouldn't I be nice? I try my best to have a little joy. Anyways, bye..... um... Ali." She said instead of Alice and left.

I lied down on the bed and stared out the window and looked at the gray sky and tried to picture it how March described it. I closed my eyes and no matter how hard I try to picture that image, it's too hard to see it. I wish I could see Wonderland like that. I wish I didn't have such a bad attitude from the start. If I could restart, I will and here seems like it's the best place do that.
