My cell phone screen is flashing. I look at it and see that it's Leyla, "Abla!"

"Sanem, neredesin? What on earth is happening? Güliz called me and said you will be coming here next week, when I'm supposed to be coming home for your wedding? What's wrong?"

"Oh, Abla, you can't begin to imagine...I guess Baba was right about Yiğit, he's definitely the wrong guy for me." I'm heading to the airport after confronting them. I can't talk to my sister right now, but I have to say something to her otherwise she will be worried.

"...Bak Abla...iyiyim, iyiyim! I can't explain everything right now, but I promise we'll talk when I arrive in Rome next week. I need to think things through...all I can say now is that the wedding is off and, as hard it might seem, it's for the best."

"Tamam, if you say so...I won't pressure you. Where are you anyway?"

"I'm in a taxi heading to the airport, I want to spend some time alone. I'm heading to Bodrum."

"You're sure you are alright?"

"Evet" I say, trying to hide my emotions from her. If she senses the slightest sadness, she will be getting a flight home. I want to be alone for a few days, and I don't want anyone to feel sorry for me.

"Abla...did you call Babam? Did you tell him that the wedding is off?" The tone of her voice has changed all of a sudden and I can tell that she's worried."Ohhh Abla...I don't know how to face him! He never liked Yiğit, you know. And this morning we had a huge argument, where he insisted on me signing a prenup..." Suddenly I realize that no matter how much I fight it, Baba is always right. "...I know I have to tell him tonight, otherwise he will be very mad at me. I'm sure the wedding planner will start calling everybody to announce the wedding is off. If Baba finds this out from any of his friends first, I will never hear the end of it! I will call him as soon as I get to Bodrum."

"You know best...but promise me you'll call me if you need anything, tamam mı? I love you Abla."

"Tamam. I've got to go, Abla...see you on Sunday or Monday. I will call you to let you know the flight itinerary...and I love you too! Please don't call Babam now, he will notice that something is wrong. I promise I will call him as soon I get off the plane...iyi geceler, Abla."

"İyi geceler, Sanem."

While I was on the phone with Leyla I had a few text messages alerts - from Yiğit. I don't want to hear or read anything he has to say, so I delete all the messages without reading them.

I arrive at Istanbul Airport on time, go through all the security checks and head for the Miles & Smiles Lounge for Turkish Airlines' passengers. I sit in one of the ivory lounge chairs next to the glass railings and ask the waiter for a glass of wine and a bottle of water. I have the feeling that this is going to be the longest flight ever. Flashbacks from what happened in our apartment this afternoon start playing in my mind like a short film.
