Lizzy.....
The name kept repeating itself in my head, almost like an echo. It took me a few moments to realize what it meant. Lizzy..... Lizzy.... "My name!" I thought. Or rather, remembered. I tried remembering anything else, but it all came in splotchy blurs. Then, there was one specific memory that seemed to float to the surface. I played it in my head. It was me, I was maybe, fifteen, at a cash register purchasing a set of five books. The surroundings were blurry, but there was one thing that stood out from everything else in the memory. And that, was the title of the books I was buying. The Maze Runner series. I felt my heart drop in my stomach. "I remember...." I thought again. I remember the those books, I remember reading those books. And most of all, I remember what happens in those books. I quickly tried to calm the panic that was rising inside of me. "Ok, this is definitely a weird situation. But there's not much I can do about for the moment. First things first, where am I?" I took in a deep breath and opened up my senses to my surroundings. I began to hear the clanking of thick metal chains. I could feel the cool metal floor that I appeared to be laying on. The one thing I did NOT do was open my eyes. "Why?" I asked myself. The truth is, I didn't really want to. This was all beginning to feel very familiar and I guess......if I open my eyes, it will become real. So there I lay, on the floor of the metal box, waiting to be brought into the maze.
After about 10 minutes however, I heard mouvement beside me. The sound of steady breathing came from my left. Someone else was in here with me! Very slowly, I reached out my hand, only to feel.....hair. Confused, I reached out again. My fingers curled around long silky strands of hair. Longer than any boy's hair. Which could only mean one thing. "Shit! I'm in the box with Teresa!" I thought in my head. My mind immediately began to race. "Ok, clearly I'm here for a reason, and if I'm in the box with Teresa, that means that the story has already started. Thomas is already in the maze, and...." My thoughts were interrupted by the sudden jerk of the box. Followed by a weird hissing noise. "Hissing?" I thought. "Why would there be......" My mind suddenly began to wonder, losing it's train of thought. "What the hell...." I mumbled. But before I could finish that sentence, my mind became all foggy and I found myself falling into a dreamless sleep.
