I grabbed my freshly made tea from the counter, blowing on it steadily as i made my way through the living room towards the stair case

"oh hey honey, i'm glad a caught you alone. i need to tell you something" my mother said patting the couch

I looked at her skeptically before setting the mug down on the coffee table and sitting down next to her.

"So i wanted to kind of tell you that Miguel is going to be there tomorrow" she said

my eyes widened. there was no way in hell he was coming. I hadn't seen him in 4 years, not since the incident.

"you're kidding me" i said
"i know, but your dad invited him and before i could uninvite him, it was too late" she sighed
"mom you can't expect me to be civil around him especially with my husband there!" i said harshly
"i know but please for the sake of your brother, make this day one to remember- for a good reason" she asked
"that's a big ask mom" i sighed "but okay"

she smiled at me before getting up and heading to bed. Sending me a goodnight before disappearing out of sight. She left me there with my thoughts, with only a couple hours left i had to figure out a way to keep my past life and my future life separate. How was the problem
