|Aubrey|
"Will you guys stop doing th-- ow!"
Aubrey was currently getting another shot; all they did for the past hour was inject him with unknown substances right into his arms, he lost count at forty-seven.
The man doing it, someone with greying hair and wrinkles around his eyes, had what seemed like a tote box full of syringes ready to be used. The room his was in was large, many cots like his lined up in two rows against both walls. No windows, very few lights, and cold temperature. Just right to match the mood he was in. He winced at another needle being pushed into the crook of his elbow.
It was incredibly painful. It was a long needle that they plunged into different, almost specific points of his skin while he was strapped to an almost comfortable bed that you'd see at a hospital so that he couldn't move away. Then, when they finally pushed down on the syringe, the needle shot a hot liquid into his veins and even touched bone. All he could do was hiss and utter every foul word in the English language while they continuously inject him with chemicals. At one point, he'd gotten desperate enough to ask, plead for a sedative, but a man keeping watch in a far corner just pressed the button on that little remote which sent a thousand volts of electricity up and down his spine. It was then that he learned he wasn't allowed to talk.
Although, he wouldn't let his opinion go dismissed.
"Fuck! Stop that shit! It hurts!"
"Only a couple more to go," murmured the doctor, more to himself than Aubrey. His last, or first name was Walter, an engraved metal name tag pinned to his white coat told him so.
Aubrey felt a surge of relief at that, his arms were beginning to finally register the pain that the dull green liquid in the needles had been suppressing. He then noticed that the Walter hadn't even been sterilizing wherever he injected him, he just stuck the needle in his arm, pressed hard on the syringe, retreated, then started the process all over again. Aubrey didn't think about the dozens of infections he could of gotten just then.
A few seconds later, Walter pulled the last needle from his skin and placed it on the tray next to him along with all the other used needles. Aubrey clenched his teeth when the doctor tightened the metal straps around his wrists and ankles.
"You're going to cut off my circulation," he commented. "Loosen it up a little."
Walter seemed to hesitate, brow furrowing with what almost looked like concern.
"C'mon, you don't want your test subject to lose use of his arms and legs, would you?" He spat the words. "Maybe then I won't cooperate. Maybe I'll be mad at you for tightening them. Then I'll just not listen to what you guys tell me to do."
The doctor gave a light sigh, the loosened the straps so that Aubrey had enough room to move his arms, but not enough to where he could escape. He didn't loosen them enough so that he could remove his hands. He didn't do his legs.
"That's all I can do," Walter said wearily.
"That's all I need," Aubrey replied.
Walter frowned but before he could speak, Aubrey had let his adrenaline take control over his body. He felt his arms and eyes burn in almost a good way as he lurched forward, the metal straps snapping. He felt. . .powerful. Too powerful. More than last time he let this mysterious strength engulf him.
Walter's eyes widened, his mouth an "O". The guy lurking in the corner cursed under his breath and made for the remote clipped to his belt, but Aubrey reached over and grabbed the metal tray from beside Walter and launched it at him. It hit him square in the face, remote forgotten, and the man slumped to the ground. Walter, in the meantime, was making a break for the metal doors across the room. He chuckled darkly and reached down to tear away his ankle straps. They pulled away cleanly, like meat coming off of a chicken bone, he mused.
