dear past self,

never take things for granted.

i used to think that i had it all. i took that for granted. something that i regret more than anything. one minute i had everything, the next, nothing. it was all ripped away just like that, and up to this day i still can't wrap my head around that.

i had a loving family. it was small, but it was perfect. it was my family. and nothing was able to change that. they're still my family and always will be. i loved them and they loved me. we were honest with each other, well, for the most part. and yet, just like that, they were all killed.

my mother, she was the overprotective one. my old friends would often call her a bitch, more so eric than anyone else. as much as i hated him calling her that, it was true, at times. she never really had a job. more so a stay at home mom. she was often out protesting, though. she always wanted what was right for my brother and i.

my father, he was the laid back one. he always wore his sneaky smirk on his face showing that he was up to something, and i loved it. he was always full of surprises. he was a lawyer. a damn good one at that. as busy as he was with his job sometimes, he still managed to be home for dinner every single night.

my brother, i loved him more than anyone. he was my little brother, it was my job to protect him at all costs. he was always obnoxious and didn't take shit from anyone. he got me through some pretty hard times, and i appreciate and respect him for that.

i had friends too. the greatest friends a guy could ever want. it was always the four of us, always. but, i guess most friendships end, right? even if you thought it was going to last forever. something will always, always, go wrong.

stan and i were the closest. we were super best friends. we got into a few fights, nothing major, but we were always there for each other. he was rather stubborn at times, but he always stood for what was right. he moved to denver a few years ago. it was devastating. we text all the time, but it's not the same as seeing him in person.

kenny was the kind of friend who always had your back but was absolutely girl crazy. he was for sure a prostitute, too. he would do absolutely anything for money. anything, you name it! he ate the nastiest things, whether it was an organ from an animal or dog shit. he would do anything to get a girl too. but, the main problem, he was depressed. he had made multiple suicide attempts. one day, it worked.

lastly, there was eric who was known as cartman. he was the kind of friend who would save your ass but at the same time could ruin you in a second. he was a bitch. but at the same time, he was a good person when he wanted to be. he went to juvy plenty of times. he was rude, selfish, racist, sexist, and so much more. once kenny and stan were gone, he got worse. bullied the shit out of me. beat me up, screamed at me, tried to kill me, threw me under a bus, you name it.

and then there was me. kyle broflovski. i had a good head on my shoulders. i stayed away from drugs and alcohol, i got good grades,  i was smart, i never missed a day of school. and now here i am, laying in a hospital bed.

i just woke up a few days ago from a three month long coma. when i woke up was when i was told that my family was gone. my mom, my dad, and ike. dead. and somehow, i was the only one that got to live. i'm getting taken to an orphanage when i'm all healed and ready to leave the hospital.

but i can't help thinking.. why me?
