"Alexis" Heather called taking the seat opposite her. Alexis immediately averted her gaze.

"I didn't ask you to sit"

"Happy birthday" she said and Alexis looked up wondering how she knew because well she never mentioned it to her.

"How did you-"

"I ran into your friend, the short one with black hair."

"Oh Jene" Alexis face fell "what did she want?"

"She told me it was your birthday and where to find you"

"Why would she?"

"Because I asked her"

"Why would you?"

"Because I felt sorry"

Alexis went quiet "and it took you two days to come find me?"

"I didn't know what to say to you" she admitted head down in defeat.

Alexis took time to look at her, her red hair was parked into a messy bun. The dark bags beneath her eyes were much visible than hers, there was a cut on her lower lip and her forehead was swollen, a red mark on it. She was more of a mess than she was.

"You could've called you know" her voice caused Heather's head to snap up "or sent a text or done something you know, anything to make me feel you care about me!"

"Alexis I'm sorr-"

"Save it" she got up and picked up her bag proceeding to walk to the exit. She flashed Maisie a sorry smile as she headed for the door.

Heather ran after her and Alexis walked faster. She regretted not bringing her car, which meant she couldn't get away from Heather.

She exited the cafe with Heather trailing behind her. She could hear her calling her name and saying something about being sorry. But she hadn't bothered to listen to it as she brought out her phone and plugged her earphone in blocking her out completely.

Trying to pick a good playlist she hadn't realized when she bumped into something and well ended up on the ground.

"Shit" she heard Heather curse behind her "Are you okay?" She asked rushing to where she was. The stranger simply apologized and went on his way.

"Don't touch me" Alexis swatted her hand away

"Look Alexis I'm sorr-"

"You're sorry you're sorry I'm tired of hearing that Heather! What did I do so wrong that day to make you lash out on me that way? I've been thinking! You could've refused my help not call me a spoilt brat, I meant well! I don't want to see you suffer I don't want to see you get beat up knowing fully well I can do something to stop it. Tell me is that wrong?" She asked tears streaming down her face.

Heather stared at her shocked and lost for words and the people passing shook their heads gave her a pity look. She hadn't realized she'd screamed in the middle of the street. She hung her head low from the embarrassment.

Trying to get up she felt something cold around her neck. And she stopped for a second to look down at it, her eyes landed on a silver necklace. Heather had put it on her, it was beautiful. It looked expensive too.

"Where did you?" She asked finally getting off the ground forgetting her previous break down or anger she felt towards Heather as she stared at the necklace that was shining on her neck.

"I bought it" Heather simply shrugged

"It looks like it cost a fortune" she frowned

"It did" Heather burst out laughing

"What's funny?"

"Remember the first time we met when I said those exact same words about your dress and you replied me with these same words?"

"Your dress is beautiful" Heather complimented the minute she got out

"Thank you" was her only reply. "Damn it looks like it cost a fortune" Heather commented.

"It did" Alexis mentally rolled her eyes at her.

Alexis smiled at the memory

"You were so rude to me back then, but I couldn't help but find it cute, find you attractive. Right from the very minute I set my eyes on you I knew I wanted you. I couldn't help but chase after you, not because I wanted to explain your boyfriend's cheating but because I simply wanted to talk to you, to hear smooth as silk voice. I desperately wanted to do something to make you not forget about me, to seek me out. At first I thought about kissing you but then I realized I'd come off as creepy, believe me I badly wanted to kiss you that day Alexis I swear to God. But then I figured you were innocent, an innocent trick would get to you so I tucked a strand behind your ear and you texted me that night. I was the happiest girl in the universe. Meeting you is one of the best things to happen to me in my 19 years of existence. No one has made me smile like you do, I can finally be myself when I'm next to you. These past two days have been pure hell without you. But it also made me realize how much I don't want to lose you, how much I'd hate myself if I ever lost you. I love you Alexis, will you be my girlfriend? Please be my girlfriend."

Alexis looked at her shocked, lost for words and hadn't realized when the words came out of her mouth.

"Yes" and immediately Heather lifted her up and planted a soft kiss on her lips.

"I love you too Heather" Alexis mumbled in between the kiss.
