"They are all gone" he said

"What?" I began to cry.

"I managed to get hold of Tyler, he answered, but there was screaming in the background, he said that it was too late, I heard him... I heard" he began but couldn't stop the tears that were falling. He screamed in pain.

I ran over to him and hugged him tight.

Tears were uncontrollably falling from my eyes, all of them, they were all dead.

We stayed in that position while we cried for most of the night.

After that night, nothing was ever the same again.

PRESENT TIME

It felt like there was no one left in the world but us. We hadn't seen anyone, signals were down and electricity was nada.

"You okay?" Dylan asked me. We have decided to stay put in our house, only going out when we need supplies, we had both killed the dead, multiple times.

"Yeah, just tired" I admitted, we were stuck in a loop, always doing the same thing everyday.

"Come here" Dylan said as he held his arms out to me.

I walked over to him and sat next to him, I cuddled into his arms, even now his arms made me feel safe, like everything was going to be okay.

We stayed in silence for a moment

"I wish I wasn't scared to have a normal life" I admitted

"What do you mean?" he asked

"Like, I still want everything in life, to be married have kids, gran-kids and then grow old and die. All I feel like is going to happen is the 'die' bit" I sighed

"I understand, that was all I wanted, with you." he said as he hugged me tighter

It was silent again.

"Are you scared?" I asked

"Not of the dead, not of dying, but more of losing you, having to be alone without you, i'm fucking petrified..." I confessed as he laid his head back on the sofa.

"Me too" I said standing up and grabbing his hand "Let's go to bed" I smiled

He took my hand and stood up, we made our way up the stairs and into our bedroom. We got out of our clothes and into a clean pair of underwear, we sleep in just underwear, this means less washing, saving time and to focus on the more important things.

We were still getting water, but no heat, making us confused, thinking that there might actually be some of the council left out there, making sure we get our supply of water.

We only use it when we need to drink. We wash clothes ones a month and shower every week, together, but to save water.

I got in bed and waited for Dylan to join me.

I laid on my back and looked at the ceiling.

From the bathroom I could hear sniffles, I knew Dyl was crying, he tried so hard to stay strong for me, but he forgot he is also human.

I got up and knocked on the door.

"Be out in a sec babe" he whispered.

"Let me in" I said calmly.

Nothing happened for a second, but the door was unlocked, but not opened.

I walked in to see Dylans eyes red and puffy, tear stains down his cheeks.
