Strings Attached: "The Pink String"

"Blow your candles, Eun-Jung!"

Today's my 16th Birthday. My Eomma(mom),Appa(dad), and my Donglyo (brother), Eun-Seok surprised me with a birthday cake and gifts.

My Eomma (mom) ties this pink string on my wrist.

"Eomma (mom) , what is this string for?" , I say.

"Nae Ttal (my daughter), Eun-Jung. You are now 16 years old. Every time a Sonyeo (girl) or a Sonyeon (boy) turns 16 years old, he or she is given a
Pink string." , My Eomma (mom) said.

"What for?" , I say.

"This string will help you find your Soulmate. When your string turns red, that means you have found your one and only. That's how i found your Appa (dad)!" , My Eomma (mom) laughs.

"Ew.., Eomma (mom) can you stop with these Jeonhae Donghwa (fairy tales)? They're disgusting." , My young Donglyo (brother) Eun-Seok said.

"They're not Jeonhae Donghwa (fairy tales) , Eun-Seok. You're Eomma (mom) is telling the truth. Eun-Seok, you'll get your own string too when you turn 16." , My Appa (dad) says.

I didn't really seemed convinced with what my parents said. But, i am curious to see if it's actually true.

I went on a video call with my
yeoja gajang chinhan chingu (girl best friend) , Chun-Hei. I asked her if what my Bumonim (parents) were saying, is true.

Chun-Hei: "Ofc, its true! You're so lucky that you're already 16, i'm only 15.."
Eun-Jung: "How am i so lucky?"
Chun-Hei: "Because you're about to meet the love of your life! You'll never know if you'll meet him tomorrow, tomorrow-tomorrow, or even today!"
Eun-Jung: "dodaeche mueos-i..(whatever)"
Chun-Hei: "Well i gotta go! I need to eat Jeomsim (lunch). Saeng-il chugha haeyo (Happy birthday)!
Eun-Jung: "gamsahabnida (Thank you)!"

All day, i've been thinking about what my bumonim (parents) said. It's now 9:30 pm here in Korea. My Eomma (mom) told me to go to bed because tomorrow is my first day at my new haggyo (school).
