Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap, was he going to... my thoughts were cut off when he firmly pressed his lips to mine. I freaked out for a second, this was my first kiss and it wasn't as amazing as I expected it to be. It didn't feel like there was any... I don't know...spark like everyone said there should be. I mean, I kind of expected my first kiss to be amazing and I always thought it would be with Mark but there was just nothing there. I just stood there not knowing what to do. He tightened his grip on my waist and moved his lips on mine. I just kind of stood there awkwardly while he tried to deepen the kiss. I sort of put my arms around his neck. After a while, he pulled away
"Happy birthday Carmen" he whispered in my war
I shivered.
"Thanks" I said before he kissed me again. Not as long this time although he did try to deepen it again.
"I've wanted to do that for a long time" he panted
I smiled awkwardly. "Um, yea, uh, me too"
"Listen Carmen, there's something I need to tell you" he said looking away from me
"What is it Mark?"
"Carmen, I'm...I'm sorry" he said looking down loosening his grip on me
"Sorry? For what? You didn't do anything" I said giving him a funny look
"Nothing you know about" he mumbled. I guess he thought I didn't hear him because he looked up again. "Well, I can't tell you but, well, you'll see soon enough" he said, a tear falling down his face
"Mark, don't cry. What are you talking about?"
He fixed face. "I'm sorry" was all he said.
Just then, my dad walked in. we shoved away from each other. I tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. He walked to the fridge with a smirk on his face and opened it.
"Hey daddy" I said folding my hands over my chest. I was still confused about what Mark said. 'I'm sorry, you'll know soon enough' what did that mean?
"Hello sweetheart" he said pulling out a bottle of water. "Are you having fun?" he asked taking a drink of his water
I looked at Mark who was looking at the ground with a disappointed look on his face
"Yeah, I'm having fun" I said walking over to Mark who smiled
My dad smiled and walked out of the kitchen leaving us alone again
"Mark, why do you keep doing that?" I asked frowning
He looked up. "Doing what?"
"Looking like you just committed the biggest crime ever" I said walking over to him and outing my hand on his shoulder
He shrugged it off. "I...Carmen, I can't tell you but can you promise me something?" he asked looking up hopefully
I was getting mad now. "What?"
"Well, you know how everything happened for a reason?" he asked biting his lip
"Yes?"
"Well, sometimes, uh, things happen for the better and if something were to happen because of me can you promise me you wouldn't get mad?" he asked looking down
