I wanted someone to love, for a long time. The books I read told me a boy will enter my life and make me see fireworks. The movies I watched promised me of happy-ever-afters and rain dances with a charming man. Fiction is the truest form of reality.I met him.

It was a hot day and my layered outfit did nothing to help the sweat dripping off my skin. My second day of college was not going well. I sat still, uninterested in making conversation. No one there seemed to mind, except a girl who sat behind me. She tapped me on my shoulder and asked me what I liked.

Her hair was glorious. Dark and thick. I couldn't help the tinge of envy that flowed inside me. Pretty girls shouldn't be friendly. It's not fair to the rest of us.

She had a sweet smile, one that lowered your apprehensions with absolutely no effort.

"I don't like much. I could probably list more things I strongly dislike than like." I replied. I had to.

Her smile widened. Pretty lips too. Full and maroon. "I'm not a fan of a lot of things too. I'm Janna. What is one thing you dislike right now?"

I don't like it when I like pretty girls. I don't like you, Janna.

I didn't say that.

"That's a beautiful name. I'm Mira. I don't like how everyone here is trying hard to act like they don't care, Janna, for starters. I don't like that I'm one of them."

Her right brow lifted a little. She needed to trim her brows. "I like you Mira. I think we're going to be good friends."

And that was that.
