Chapter 3: Repentant

I got kidnapped last week by a bunch of rebel, drug using teenagers.

I can't say it's a pleasant experience.

Fortunately though, I escaped.

Which I thought was good.

But it turns out, I'm completely wrong.

As I entered our classroom, silence welcomed me. I know my classmates were talking and being loud before I entered because I could hear it when I was still outside, but I didn't pay any more attention to it. Tahimik akong nagtungo ng aking upuan. Once I was settled, I put my earphones in, but I did not play anything, just so that I couldn't hear the deafening silence.

Unti unti naman na bumalik ang paguusap sa classroom.

As I silently did homework, napasulyap naman ako sa upuan ni Pearl. She's been absent since last week but I remembered, today was the day na papasok siya uli. Oh Pearl. What would I say when I see you again? Are you mad at me? Please don't be....

Maya maya pa ay hindi ko naman maiwasan na marinig ang bulong bulungan ng mga kaklase ko sa harap ko.

"Bakit kaya si Jean ang tagal na pumapasok at pumasok na agad, pero si Pearl hindi parin?"

"Ano ka ba, nakatakas agad si Jean kasi iniwan niya si Pearl diba? Kaya okay lang si Jean pero si Pearl di natin alam baka may ginawa sakanya."

"Grabe. Pano yun nagawa ni Jean?Hindi siya tunay na kaibigan."

"She's a traitor."

Humigpit ang hawak ko sa ballpen ko. Hindi ko mapigilan na hindi maapektuhan sa sinasabi nila.

Kinalma ko ang sarili ko. Wag mo na sila pansinin, Jean.

After a few moments, pumasok na ang Prof namin para sa first subject."Good afternoon students."Bati niya.

Tumayo na kaming lahat."Goodafternoon, sir..."

Halfway through the class, bigla naman bumukas ang pinto. We stared at it and waited for the person to come in, which did. Agad siyang nagsalita sa Prof namin.

"Goodafternoon sir, sorry I'm late."

"Very well, you may sit down."

Tinitigan ko siya. Akala ko ay didiretso siya sa upuan niya sa tabi ko. Pero hindi.

Sa iba siya umupo, sa harap. At hindi manlang niya ko tinignan nung pumasok siya.
