along the way, the two of you found a small fast food place to grab a bite to eat. you began to realize how lucky you were in that moment, eating 3-star food next to one kind stranger. you were glad he gave you a chance, especially considering vegas was pretty hard to get to by driving.it was until now that you realized how big of a travel this was. 'why me?' you seemed to ask yourself a million times.

you found yourself in a small town that you guys just so happened to come by. eddie told you about a special place he had heard about in the town you were in, and that made both of you curious.

you finished eating and eddie insisted on paying for it all. of course, he was too nice.

"so, what is this place called again?" you asked, wanting to know more.

"i believe they call it Stone Waters 'round here." he put his truck in gear and backed out.

it took no longer than 5 to 10 minutes to find where it was.

"it sure does own up to its name." you examined the place. it was a semi-large lake with many different stones of all shapes and sizes surrounding it. there were a few spots where the stones created seating areas. other than that, there was just tall grass and trees.

"it's quite the romantic-scene, ain't it?" he chuckled while getting out of the rusty vehicle. you grabbed your sketchbook from your bag before following behind.

after taking it all in, you found a big enough seat for the both of you to sit.

"man, this might've been the wrong time to come here." eddie said as he waved away a mosquito that flew by his face. the sun was just starting to set and the air became more humid. you two were basically bug-bait in a place like this.

eddie took off his hat and set it on the patch of grass in front of you. that's when your pencil called the papers name, and you began drawing the sweet scene.

eddie must've heard the scratches of your eraser hitting your paper because you noticed him wanting a closer look from the corner of your eye.

you got shy and pulled the book away.

"hey, i was looking at that." eddie whined.

he gently grabbed the book, "may i?" he asked permission. you gave in and let him have a look.

"you're amazing." he looked up at you.

"you're too kind." you smiled.

"how long have you been doin' this stuff?" he flipped through the pages.

"for as long as i remember, really. i kept some of my more sentimental pieces just to have them to look back on." you reached over and turned to the back of the book, which revealed folded up pieces of paper. he opened one up.

"that one is of my mother the day we spent our first night in our new house together. she was so happy that day." you smiled at the picture.

eddie closed the book and handed it back to you.

"ya know, i don't think i've met anyone quite like you y/n." he looked you in the eyes.

"i hope that's a good thing."

"trust me, it is. talented and pretty? that's one deadly combination." he stood up and looked out at the lake.

you slightly blushed, not exactly knowing how to respond.

you got up and stood next to him, your shoulders almost touching. the wind blew your hair perfectly out of your face.

you slowly moved your hand closer to eddie's. hesitation was lingering throughout your whole body, but you brushed it aside. your pinky brushed against his. then, you swiftly interlocked your fingers together, just like you had done before.

eddie looked down at your hands, then back up at you. his eye contact still gave you the same feeling as it did when you first met him. it was almost impossible to look away, and yet it was intimidating at the same time.

"can i ask you somethin' y/n?" he brushed a strand of hair behind your ear.

you shook your head.

"how old are you, by chance?"

this question snapped you back into reality for a moment. how could you have been this dumb? that also made you think about what day it was, and realize that your birthday was coming up. you had been so caught up in all of this that you didn't even stop to think.

"m-my 18th birthday is coming up in a couple days actually." you looked down at your shoes.

"really? well happy early birthday to you." he said.

"and how old are you?" you asked, becoming a little more serious.

"i'm only 22." he flat out told you.

a wave of relief went over you. you were preparing yourself for the worst with that one. it could've been a lot worse, you thought.

"listen y/n, you're capable of makin' your own decisions alright? you got me in the palm of your hand."

you knew what he meant, "thank you."

he smiled and started walking back to the truck, as it was now getting darker out. that left you to get your things and do the same, but instead you do something else. an urge got the best of you this time.

it was like your legs took control as you quickly made your way over to him. you stood in front of him, making him stop in his tracks.

you hesitated for a second before you leaned in and kissed him. it didn't last long, as your nervousness got to you. his facial expression was one that you couldn't tell whether it was good or bad, which made you regret what you did.

"i am so sorry." you lifted your hand up to your mouth.

and with that, eddie brushed your hair back once more. the look in his eyes had softened, and was new to you this time.

"damn, this place really does bring out a romantic side in people huh?" he chuckled in a husky voice. he inched closer with a slight smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. and in one swift motion, his lips were on to yours. you each gave in a little more with each kiss, making it more and more memorable to you.

you eventually let go of the kiss, and found yourself admiring every feature that was placed upon his face.

"i think we should get goin' darlin'." he said barely above a whisper. he gave you a wink before heading back to the truck. you stood there for a minute before going back to gather your things and following behind. it felt as though you were in a trance, but you didn't mind it.

as the two of you began driving down the long highway again, you were accompanied by eddie's hand sitting in yours.

you weren't entirely sure what you were getting yourself into, but you definitely weren't against it. there was still one question that still occupied your mind after all this time, especially now:

"what will vegas mean for us?"
