Six months passed before Rebecca finally decided to tell the little girl the truth.
Remi took the news of Colby being her father exactly how they thought she would, she didn't react at all.
She took to him immediately, she took to calling him Daddy effortlessly.
In the next six months new relationships were started for both Rebecca and Colby and the two agreed to being friends and raising the little girl to the best of their abilities and so far that agreement was working out perfectly.
October 2018
Colby walked into his house after being gone for three weeks on the road, he noticed the fresh cut flowers.. Bethany, his girlfriend was definitely here.
"Welcome home" she said as she walked into he kitchen and wrapped her arms around him tightly
"I've missed you" he said kissing her quickly before pulling away and he made his way to grab water from the refrigerator before he stopped and then looked back at her "Where are the drawings?" he asked pointing to the fridge
"What drawings?" she asked "You mean the printer paper with scribbles?" she asked "I threw them away"
"Why would you do that?!" he exclaimed and she jumped at the loudness in his voice
"Calm down! It just seemed tacky to have on our refrigerator"
"You know those were from Remi" he said and the blonde shrugged
"She's not our daughter Colby" she shook her head "I don't want her scribbles on the fridge"
"Not your daughter.." he shook his head "Get out" he said
"What?" she asked
"Get. Out" he said calmly "Not your daughter.. not your house" he motioned to the house "Not your refrigerator"
"You're not serious" she shook her head "Over some drawings?" she questioned
"It's over a lot more the drawings! Every time Remi is here you hate it, you hate every single time the attention isn't on you and I'm sorry but that little girl comes before anyone else in my life.."
"You're seriously going to choose a mistake you made over me?"
"The only mistake I ever made was you" he said and her jaw dropped and he just pointed to the door
He heard her storming around the living room and then he heard the door open and slam shut and he took a deep breath shaking his head and trying to calm himself down when he heard his phone ringing in his back pocket and he pulled it out to see Rebecca's name on the caller ID and he took another deep breath and answered it
"Daddy!" Remi exclaimed as her little face popped up on the screen
"Hi princess" he said as he sat down at the island
"What's wrong?" the little girl asked and he shook his head
"It's nothing" he said
"I wanna come over to your house"
"You're coming over to my house in a few weeks" he said
"but I wanna come over now!" she whined
"Munchkin you're all the way in California now, it would be different if you were in Florida still"
"I tried to tell her that" he heard Rebecca's voice from the background
"Look, I promise you when you come over in a few weeks we will have so much fun but you have to stay with your mom for a little while longer" he said "but I need you to do something for me in the meantime" he said and he now had the little girl's attention "I need you to make me some more pictures" he said
"I can do that!" Remi nodded with a smile "I can make you lots of pictures!"
