You were my forever Bonnibel. I love you

"Marceline?
Mama Marcy?"

I sighed to look up at the most adorable puppy eyes I had ever seen.
"What is it my little gumdrop?" I asked.

"There are tears!" She responded while cutely trudging over to hug my legs.

I chuckled, though water was still falling from my eyes, now in larger quantities.

Softly picking her up I went to sit on the bed that was now too big for those who slept in it.

"Do you... remember mama Bonnibel?" I whispered as she snuggled into my chest.

"......" she thought deeply before looking up to respond. "...remind me again!"

I smiled but couldn't prevent myself from cracking as I tried but failed terribly at holding in my sobs.  I attempted to control my breathing as they became heavier and more overwhelming.

"What's wrong mama?" A small voice asked as I felt a small warm hand caress my cheek.

I tried to give her a weak glance.
But I couldn't help the tears from falling when I imagined Bonnibels beautiful smile, glowing in the sunlight.
I couldn't help the tears from falling when I thought of the nights, when she used to caress our baby Melody, humming quiet tunes to help her fall asleep.
I couldn't help the tears, when she had done so much for us- and still have been forced to leave forever.

I started to hum the song that Bonnie always sang to Melody and felt her become limp in my arms.

"She was your other mama, my little gumdrop." I whispered, while quietly stroking her rose pink hair.

"I loved her very much... and so did you. One day I'll tell you about all the wonderful adventures we went on together. Even you were a little adventure you know." I chuckled, remembering all the laughs we had. Experimenting in Bonnies lab... Especially when the tests accidentally turned into make out sessions." I smiled at the memory. Sly things we were.

I looked down at the sleeping toddler in my arms, and slowly put my hand on her chest to feel her heartbeat.

"B-But there was a terrible incident you see." I said as my voice cracked, a lump in my throat forcing a river of tears to flow from my eyes once more.

"You got sick." I whispered.

"And though mama bonnibel and I loved you dearly, we didn't know what was wrong." Melody shifted slightly before seeming to find a comfortable position and snoring away once more.

I sighed, bringing my free hand to my face in an attempt to wipe the tears away. But they just kept coming, I didn't know what to do.

"W-we searched everywhere and talked to everyone in a mad attempt to find a cure for whatever you had. But no one knew what was wrong. You got worse and worse everyday, and your mama and I became so stressed that searching for your cure became all we ever did. Then one day, we did it. We found someone who could help you out. So we left you in the kingdom while we ventured for this supposed magic healer. When we found her she had already known what was wrong and found a cure.
We were absolutely overjoyed at the news...

But we had celebrated too soon for when she told us what was needed, I was lost and completely shocked at what she had asked. She said that she needed the heart of someone who loved you dearly and I had no heart. So we knew who it had to be. The price was too high. We couldn't do it.
