Journey Bound

chapter 1 volume 1

Siren's POV

Someone was at my door this morning. I was tired and moaned as I got up. I was surprised that Aerogin didn't wake up since he has great hearing. My hands touch the doorknob and I hear "OW! Splinter!". I could already tell that Evelyn was at my door. I assume she's with someone as she would not be able to find her way to my home by herself. I open the door and see that Kacy was with her. She holds up a job contract to my face.

" I found a job contract for us. The guards personally wanted us on this." She smiled.

"Alright let me go get dressed and someone wake up Aerogin please."

"ok I'll go get..."

"I'll do it!" Evelyn smiled heavily.

Kacy grabs Evelyn and holds her down tightly. I stare and sigh.

"alright I guess I'll do it then. I'll get dressed after I wake him"

I walk quietly to his room and open the somewhat creaky door. He's still asleep and lucky with his blanket still over him. I quietly run and jump on top of him.

"what do you think your doing?" he moaned

"we have a job contract to go do. Get up!"

"well would you get off me then"

His hand presses against my shoulder and pushes me off the bed. My back hits the floor and his blanket flys off onto me. I couldn't see so I grabbed the top of the blanket and pulled it off me. I then see him standing on the other side of the bed wearing nothing but his underwear.

"Get some clothes on!"

He turns around and looks at me "you know this is what I wear to bed"

" I was supposed to wake him up!" Evelyn yells from the other room.

" stop flirting with the dragon! Evelyn"

Aerogin looks at me with a disappointing look. "Who let her in?"

"Who do you think?"

"Give me a minute to go get dressed."

I get up and head to my room to get dressed walking passed Kacy and Evelyn wrestling on the floor. We decided to walk to the barracks since it wasn't that far. On the way there I admit I almost killed someone.

"You and Aerogin sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N." Kacy mocked

" I have a bow and two swords strapped to me consider your next words carefully!" I exclaimed. On the way to the barracks I noticed that Jerry Evelyn's pet bird isn't with her. "Where's Jerry?" I questioned

"he left me, to go to the pond" she sighed

"great now someone's got has to go get Jerry" Aerogin shakes his head.

"we will figure that out when we split up" I replied

We get to the old stone building that still stands after the fall of the adjuderra's. the guards retook the building to use as their base. We push open the old creaking door and head inside we then see Zamin one of the dayshift guards standing over Zenaku who looks deathly ill.

"what's wrong?" I said worryingly.

"he's not doing so well. I'm not sure what's wrong but the doctor couldn't do anything." He exclaimed.

"so what do you need done?" Kacy inquired

"Akuma is taking care of business since the night shift guards are also getting sick like Zenaku. Split up in groups of two. One group at the market and one group at the gate. There's been a sighting of a demon dog going around and it may be responsible for several killings."
