"And by the way, it's not a party, it's just us." Y/n snorted as Ian poured the last of the cereal into two bowls.
"well you could invite those kids from your guy's science class, you said they seem pretty rockin'" Ian turns to Y/n who shrugs, "I wouldn't mind, they seem cool."
"Me and Y/n don't even know them, and I don't think I said they seem pretty rockin'" Y/n raised her hand from her stool. "You said those exact words to me Lightfoot" Laurel chuckles.
"Well your birthday's a day to try new things, be the new you." Laurel powers on the blender causing Y/n and Ian to flinch as Laurel continues to talk, but now yelling over the blender.
"Speaking of trying new things, did you sign up for driving practice?" from across kitchen Y/n shakes her head. "Nope!" she calls earning a look from Ian before he turns to his mom who had turned of the bender.
"No" he tells her causing Laurel to sigh, "I know you're a little scared to drive, sweetie pie, but..." Ian cuts her off bringing the bowls of cereal over to Y/n. "I'm not scared, Mom. I'm gonna move Barley's game" Y/n sighs and shakes her S/c head, "bad idea Ian, you know how he gets when someone touches that." Ian hands her bowl of cereal to her and continues over to the table covered with his brothers game. "Well he's gotta learn to pick up his toys," Ian trips stumbles over one of his brothers fake weapons, scowling as he picks it up and sets it on the table along with his cereal.
"Halt!" a large blue hand reaches out and grabs Ian causing him to yelp as he was pulled into the grip of his big brother. "Doth my brother dare disrupt an active campaign?" Barley exclaims puling Ian back and causing him to kick the table, knocking his bowl of cereal to the ground.
Y/n laughs at her best friends brother. "Hey Bar!" she called causing Barley to turn around smiling widely at the girl before him. "Hello to you as well N/n" he said still holding Ian in his arms.
"You know Ian, in the days of old a boy of 16 would have his strength tested in the Swamps of Despair, also..." he pauses looking at Y/n before whispering in his little brothers ear, "...a boy of 16 would also have a girlfriend." Ian felt his face flush glancing up at his brother.
"I'm not testing anything. Just let me go." he tells his brother annoyed and flustered at Barley's past comments. Laurel peaks around the corner. "Let him go!"
"Okay." Barley drops Ian making him land on the ground with a thud. Barely looks down at his brother who was on the floor, "but I know you're stronger than that." he tells his little brother sweetly before bending over as Ian picks himself up. "There's a mighty warrior inside of you. You just have to let him out. Right, Y/n?" Barely turns to look at the S/c girl you was watching the scene.
"How about you quit tormenting your brother on his birthday and let him get something to eat." she says watching Ian pick his now empty bowl and spoon as Laurel and Barely wrestle before Laurel flips him over her shoulder making him land with a loud thud oh his back.
"See? Mom knows how to let out her inner warrior." Barely groans from the ground before his eyes wander to Y/n. "N/n turn! Let's see you let out your inner warrior!" Barely yells from the ground. A spoon flies through the air and hits him straight in the forehead causing him to yelp.
"Nope!" Y/n yells finishing the last of her cereal by drinking it out of the bowl leaving the spoon over by Barley. Laurel looks down at her son, "now, take out the trash" Barley hoists himself up walking pass Ian who pulled out the last to pieces of bread as Barley grabbed the trash and headed out the door. Y/n watched Barley walk right outside the door and drop the garbage hearing the soft thunk it made. The he paused mumbling something to himself as he looks out into the driveway.
