Alyssa
When I opened my eyes, I realized I was leaning on the doofus and I scrambled to get off of him.
"Well, you're finally up," he stated. I didn't detect any annoyance in his tone. Maybe he needed that sleep. I nodded and looked ahead, not knowing what to say. That's when I saw mom getting up to go to the bathroom. When she got closer, she saw me.
"Alyssa! I've been looking all over for you! Where have you been?" She questioned, finally remembering that she had a daughter.
"Just 5 rows behind you, Mom," I responded with a hint of annoyance.
"Oh, I must've not checked there. Anyways, who is this fine young man you're sitting with? Is he your boyfriend? I don't remember you mentioning anything about a boyfriend. He's quite a catch though," she babbled and winked at me. Wow thanks mom, you really didn't need to embarrass me even further. I think the throw up was already enough.
"I'm Aaron, pleasure to meet you. And no, I'm not your daughter's boyfriend," he firmly stated and shook my mother's hand. Aaron? So that's the doofus' name.
"Oh, the pleasure is all mine. So Aaron, what's a fine man like you doing on a plane to Fiji alone? Where are your parents?" Mom asked, emphasizing the "fine".
"We were all scheduled to fly to Fiji, but they caught an earlier flight. My parents are business people."
"That's neat. I'd say we dabble in a bit of business ourselves too, right Alyssa?" Mom jokes.
"You might have heard of them, my parents, they are very well known business folks. You must have heard of our franchise, Va-"
"Attention all passengers, this is your pilot speaking. We have now entered Fiji and will be starting our descent shortly. At this time, we request for you all to find your seats and fasten your seatbelts," the pilot interrupted.
"Well, I think that's my cue to leave. It was really nice meeting you, Aaron. And Alyssa, make sure to take your bags. We will be waiting for you by the gate," Mom told.
When we finally touched down, I rejoiced. I made it through the flight with that doofus, Aaron. We got our bags and exited the plane together. This is it, we parted ways and now never have to see each other again. I looked around the gate and tried to search for Mom and Dad, but they were nowhere in sight. I grabbed my phone to call them, but it wasn't turning on. Shoot, it was dead! I looked around for help, but everyone was busy on their phones or looked like they were in a hurry to get somewhere. I had no other choice. He wasn't too far. I could catch him. And the next thing I knew, I was shouting,"doofus, I mean Aaron!" He luckily stopped and turned around.
"Look, I know the last thing you want to do is see me again," I spoke.
"Wow look, we finally agree on something!" He exclaimed.
"But I need your help," I pleaded.
. . .
I somehow convinced him to let me borrow his phone, and dialed Mom's number.
"Mom! Where are you? I'm waiting by the gate and I don't see you," I questioned.
"The gate? Oh right. Sorry sweetie, your dad got an important phone call, and we had to leave. But don't you worry, we will send a car to come get you and drive you to the hotel," Mom assured. Of course, they forgot about me again.
Aaron
I could have been on my way to the beach if it weren't for her. Just when I thought I had finally gotten rid of her, she came skipping back into my life. Then, a girl approached me.
"Pretend I just said something really funny and laugh," she spoke with a forced chuckle. Confused, I let out a forced laugh too. "Sorry about that. My friends saw you exit that plane, thought you were "supes cute", and basically forced me to go up to you and ask for your number. They're watching me right now, your 10 o'clock," she clarified.
"Well, then I'll have you know, one of your friends is walking towards us right now. So I guess I better give you my number. Don't want you to get in trouble, now do we?" I flirted. For some reason, I liked talking to her. It had only been about 30 seconds, but I already liked her. I did actually want to talk more with her.
"Well, I mean you don't have to. You could just give me a fake one or something. They won't mind. It's honestly fine. Wait, you're single, right?" She rambled on.
"Don't worry about it, just give me your number and I'll call you. Oh and uh, sorry, what did you say your name was?" I asked as I reached for my phone in my pocket, but it wasn't there. Agh, I had forgotten that the buffoon had it. I guess that's what happens when you're nice to people.
"Stella, did you get his number yet, or were you just faking what you said back there? Hey there, I'm Brooke. Clearly, poor Stella here is not capable of talking to guys," Brooke leered. She immediately reminded me of Nicole, and I couldn't stop staring. Nicole always had a way with words that alluded with confidence.
"Well, your friend Stella here is quite the charmer. As a matter of fact, I was about to give my number to her," I said, defending Stella.
"Oh, well that's a surprise. You probably don't know, but Stella is terrible with guys. Can you believe it? In all of her 18 years, she hasn't dated anyone. Crazy right? Oops, sorry Stella, I probably shouldn't have said that," Brooke revealed, not looking even a bit sorry, and put her hand on my arm.
"Ahem, you want my number right?" I cleared my throat and moved my arm away from her. She stiffened, but quickly recovered.
"I mean, I guess if you want to," Nicole cooly answered, but eagerly took out her phone.
"571-348"
"Nice boxers." I turned around to see who the voice belonged to.
"Yeah, no really, I'm so digging the Spongebob theme," smirked the buffoon. Sure enough a sliver of Spongebob's face was showing. Agh, I didn't even notice what I had put on when I was changing in the plane. Why had I even packed it?
"Haha, that's cute," Brooke sarcastically remarked. "You know what, actually Stella and I gotta go. Toodles."
"But we didn't even get his number," Stella sulked, as she was dragged away by Brooke.
"Do you really want that loser's number?" I heard Brooke say as they left. And now, I had yet another thing ruined by that stupid girl. I snatched my phone away and stomped off, hoping to never see her again.
