my stomach turned the longer it took for ethan to get home from work. i was so nervous to tell him the news. we hadn't been trying to have a baby. but things took a turn.
i turned my attention away from the tv, recollecting myself as the door swings open. it was nearly 9:00 at night.
"hey baby." ethan mummers, kissing my forehead. he puts his bag down and brings me in for a tight hug. "i missed you."
ethan has been working extra hard lately. we just bought a new house and it needed some things fixed in it so he's been staying a little late for work these past couple weeks.
"i missed you too." i say. he pulls away from our hug.
"i'm going to go change into some comfy clothes. put on a movie?"
i nod and smile. after a few minutes, he comes down in a black tshirt and some shorts. he sits down next to me and put his arm around my shoulders.
"what're we watching?" he asks.
i needed to tell him now. if not, i was going to keep stressing myself out.
"can we talk?" i ask, my stomach still turning.
"yeah baby," he says. his eyebrows furrowed i'm confusion. he sits up next me. "what's up?" he could tell something important was on my mind for sure.
"i'm pregnant." i blurt.
his eyes widened and his posture straightened. "you're pregnant? really?"
i nod. he sits there in disbelief. it wasn't a bad thing, he was taken back. but i could tell her was happy.
"we're gonna have a baby?" he whispers.
"yes." i nod and laugh.
he engulfs me in a hug. "oh my gosh." he says.
"i can't wait to start this family with you." he smiles and gives me a kiss.
