Lost Hope of Me

Chapter 2

Over the course of a month of having the 3 girls stay with me, I've felt so much more... Human. Before, I felt like a zombie.

I stepped outside the bar because I heard a noise. I thought I saw a guy... Must have been a walker. I eyes the things back, and climbed up the fence. A part that wasn't so dangerous. I thought I heard some talking... More like low whispers.

"Hey! Anyone out there?!" I asked. "Shit!" I heard a voice whisper yell.

"Don't worry. I won't hurt you unless you hurt me." I called out to them. Then I saw the guy in the hoodie. "Heyyy." He said, trying to keep his cool. "Hi. I'm Nalani. Yours is?" He gasped. "N-Nalani?!" He asked. I nodded. Then he embraced me into a hug. "I'm so glad you're alive." He whispered softly in my ear.

"Dude, who the fuck are you?!" I asked, pushing him off. "I-I'm Joseph!"

No.

No way in hell.

I saw him that day.

He-

No. It could be a totally different Joseph... I did know a few...

After seeing that kid get killed, I started panicking a little. I think Joseph could see me from the window because he started mouthing the words, "Don't worry Nalani!" I nodded slowly.

"Nalani, I think you should get away from the door now." Mr. Rogers suggested. "No I'm fine." I said, looking out the window. I looked out the window one more time, before covering it.

"The window. We need to leave though the window. It's the easiest way." I said, going over to the window. "Sorry but it's basically covered with them..." Levi, another one of my friends said. "I need a weapon..." I said, then sighed. "But there is no weapons in here!" Some guy stated. "No duh captain obvious!"

Then I went into the closet that Mr. Rogers put all of his science stuff. "I don't think you can find anything in there Nalani!" He said, following me. "Nothing?! Wait, you have scalpels don't you?! They're sharp!" He nodded. Then he found the plastic bag that they were in. "Here... I don't think it'll do too much..." I nodded.

Then I remembered that he had some glass bottles. "Those old Coca Cola bottles! I can break one and use the sharp part as a weapon!" I said, rushing to his desk. Then I took a bottle and broke it over a sink nearby.

"NALANI RITCHIE! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!" Mr. Rogers asked. "This is now a weapon. Remember what you said, anything can be turned into a weapon!" I said, mimicking words that he told me. "Ah, nice advice. I forgot I told you that. And I'm supposed you remembered that from 6th grade!" I smiled triumphantly.

"N-Nalani... Should we go and help the others?" Lilly asked. "Well, Tatum probably has her class under control, but I'm not sure about Joseph..."

Joseph and I have been close since the 3rd grade... We've always stood up for each other. He wasn't really tough though... He stick up for me and say things like,

"Hey! Nalani is awesome!"

And

"Shut up Andrew Nalani is beautiful!"

But anyways...

I looked out the window of the door and saw Joseph wasn't there anymore.

The hallway was now empty of walkers. "Is it safe?" Lilly asked. I nodded. "Distract Mr. Rogers... Please?" I begged. She nodded.

"Mr. Rogers, I have a question on The Big Bang!"

Good, this should keep him busy.

After that I snuck out of the room, not being noticed.

I quietly closed the door and started to crawl across hallway to Mr. Wilsons room. The room Joseph was in. I knocked in the door.

"THERES ONE OUTSIDE!!" I heard someone yell. I sighed and got up, waving inside. "It's Nalani!" I heard Joseph muffle. "Open up!" I yelled. He nodded and let me in.

"Why the fuck were you out there?!" Joseph whisper-yelled to me. "Because I was worried about you dumbass." I retorted, ignoring the fact that the teacher was there. That earned me glances.

"What? Face the fact that we don't need to live with education." I snarled. They all nodded.

"I'm not going to ignore that fact that you risked your life for me." He said, pinning me against a wall with one hand. "Joseph... I care about you... So let's just get out of this hell hole... Okay?" I asked. He nodded.

"Where do you think you're going?" The teacher asked. "A place." I said, pushing Joseph slightly off of me. "Waaaaaaaiiiiiittttt Nalani! Take me with chu!" Isaac begged. "Me too!" Clay exclaimed. I shrugged. "You okay with that?" I asked. "Yeah." Joseph replied. "Let's go then." I said, opening the door and rushing out.

I remember we made it out, but we soon lost each other. Well I got lost from them.

"I finally found you again..."
