"Sure. I will."

"Okay, I'll call you later, Sahil. People are arriving for work."

"Sure, bye. Love you," he said, cutting the call.

For two whole minutes, I stared into the blank screen, a smile on my face. I then slapped my hand on my head and walked towards my workplace.

As soon as I entered the big room, people's eyes travelled to me. They stared and gawked at me, whispering things, shamelessly.

"Isn't she the one? The Mehra?"

"The Mehra Infrastructures one?"

"Why has she joined here? Is she not happy with the money earned by her company?"

"I have heard her company has made illegal profits, the last three months. "

Many more comments and remarks came forward, and I sighed. This wasn't new. I was used to taunts and mockeries my entire life. So, I didn't quite bother. But I really did hope that my work people wouldn't judge me and we would develop a cordial working relationship. I hoped they would be like Mr Shenoy. I wished I could enjoy a life away from taunts and mocks.

Ignoring their ogled looks and rude comments, I proceeded towards my desk. But I hadn't taken my second step when,

"Oi, you people don't have any other works to do? " A commanding and an authoritative voice came from my behind, and I turned around.

A young girl, of my height, probably a bit older than me, stood in front of me. She had that confident and bold look. Dressed in everyday jeans and a simple top, she looked pretty modern. Crossing her hands across her chest,

"Anika!" She glared at the girl who passed the most comments, "Are the reports ready? I thought your deadline was today noon."

"Yes, mam," she said in a hurried tone and went back to her computer without any delay.

"Same goes for you, Anwar. " she pointed at a male next to her. He nodded.

She looked at me and gestured me to walk ahead. I obeyed. Once I reached a desolate corner,

"Thanks," I told her gratefully.

"Don't be. " she gave an honest smile, before extending her right arm, "Akanksha Sinha. "

"Oh, " I said, my eyes wide. I remembered Mr Shenoy telling me that I would work under, Ms Sinha. Anika also addressed her as Mam. I shook her hand, "Thank you, Ms Sinha- I mean - Mam. "

"Uff, There is no need for any formality. You can call me Akanksha. You are a senior web developer and designer too. " she said, corners of her lips crinkling.

"Okay. I am Ayesha Mehra, "

"I know, " she said excitedly, "I have heard a lot about you. "

"Thanks, " I said, that's all I could think of telling.

"Let me give you a tour, " she offered. "You will also know what you're going yo be a part of. "
