Jemma’s P.O.V.

Pitch black darkness still filled the cramped elevator shaft as the death chamber froze in it’s spot. Okay, so maybe I was overexagerrating just a little bit, but I had no other idea about how to cope with this.

"This is the part where we die isn’t it," I blurted out the first part that came to my mind. That always did seem to happened whenever I was nervous.

"Well that’s not creepy at all," he said sarcastically pushing himself away from me making me cling onto the railings like my life depended on it

"Sorry, I watch a lot of horror movies," I squeaked trying to steady my breathing so he wouldn’t think I was a complete wack job for my weird comment

"Really? Like what?"

Usually I’d be up for a conversation like that, but considering our circumstances I couldn’t really focus on the type of movies I watch so this wasn’t really going to work out. In fact, it was actually freaking me out even more because I kept thinking about more and more scenarios from the different films I’ve seen that include elevator deaths.

God dammit Jemma this is why you don’t watch scary movies.

"How about we talk about movies when we’re not trapped in a dark metal box suspended by wires,"

"Why? Are you scared?" He asked

"You’re not?"

"I’ll admit that I’m a little nervous, but not as much as you are," He let out a little laugh. Great so he has a sense of humor now. Add that to the list of things we don’t need when we’re stuck in a fucking elevator.

I started to hear rustling noises and that’s when I started to freak out even more. I couldn’t see shit and of course this dude would randomly start doing whatever.

"Please tell me you’re not taking out a knife or anything to murder me," I said

"Just relax, I’m looking for- I found it!" He said before flipping on a switch and lighting a flashlight towards me

"Well that’s great now we can see what we look like when we fall to our deaths," I said sliding my back down the wall in desperation

I’ve been mobbed by viewers, been hated on relentlessly by hundreds of people, lost in a city that I’ve never been to or even heard of without any way of contacting anyone, but this moment right now was the most anxious I’ve ever been.

To me, not being able to control any factor in this situation was the most terrifying thing. When the elevator stopped we were at the seventh floor and if people broke bones from jumping off second story buildings, I didn’t even want to think about what a drop from the seventh floor would result in. The dark made it even worse because I already had a fear of that since I was a kid but I never managed to grow out of it. Sure the flashlight helped a little but god only knows how long we’ll be in there, no food, no water. For fucks sake I still don’t know who the hell the guy inside the elevator with me is.

"I know I’m not supposed to tell girls to calm down, but you really do need to calm down, if you have a panic attack in here, we can’t get you out," He reasoned

"Well that’s reassuring," I rolled my eyes

He sat down beside me, facing the flashlight towards the ceiling so it acted as a lamp illuminating the small room

"Deep breaths okay? The building probably knows we’re stuck and is trying to do whatever is needed to get us out," He said trying to get me to relax and for some reason it worked
