I woke up with an unusual amount of energy today and I know exactly why. Its the first football game of the season and I am head flyer. Normally it would be hard to get me out of bed but I was just too damn excited. It was 5 am when I rolled out of bed to get ready. I had tossed and turned all night, anxious for the day awaiting me. I was wide awake at 4:30 am and laid in bed and stared at the ceiling imagining how the day would go.
I had showered the night before so I didn't have to this morning. I started my hair first because it took the most of my time. I curled it all and brushed it out with my fingers. My hair was this beautiful honey blonde and it cascaded all the way down my back, stopping just short of my butt. After, I started on a full face of makeup. I excluded the lipstick, I'd add that right before the game. I then put on my uniform, our colors were black, red, and white. Giving myself a once over in the mirror I grabbed my backpack and headed downstairs. My mom had made me a smoothie for breakfast, I thanked her and headed out the door smoothie in hand. As always it was delicious. However, as usual, I couldn't drink more than a few sips.
I hopped into my car and drove to Ambers. She rolled her eyes as she got into my car and asked, "Why must you drive this old thing... like ya it's in nice condition, but it's from the 70s."
I looked at her with mock hatred and said what I've had to say every morning since I got the car, "It's a 1970 Dodge Charger in mint condition. This car is iconic." As I finished speaking I looked at her out of the corner of my eye to see her play mocking me. I laughed and she joined in. As I started driving off she started talking about more pointless stuff.
In the parking lot of the school, I saw Christopher. I parked and hopped out to go see my boyfriend. He was a baseball star at the school so he wasn't in season and could watch me cheer. As I walked up to him he smiled, I loved this boy so much. He was the only person I truly trusted other than Amber.
My dad wasn't in the picture and when he left my mom started neglecting me. Recently she started acting better, hence the smoothie this morning. But once the boyfriend leaves her it'll go right back to normal. Amber and Christopher have been there for me through everything.
When I reached him he was leaning on his black Jeep, I walked up and leaned into him and he wrapped his arms around me as I nestled onto his chest. his hands slid down to my ass as he looked down at me. I trailed my eyes up to meet his hovering on his lips for a second. When our eyes met he leaned in for a kiss. When I pulled away Amber started gagging, making me laugh.
Christopher laughing along with us, asked, "Hey babe there a party tonight at Connors house, wanna go?" I glanced at Amber knowingly because she likes Connor. I nodded as I started laughing at Amber's face, she was worried. I quickly added, "If Amber can come." She sighed with relief and gave me a thankful look. I knew she wanted to go with us because Christopher and Connor are such good friends. Christopher nodded as he grabbed my hand to start heading toward the school. The second warning bell was about to ring.
He dropped me and Amber off at our first period, we walked in and straight to the back. We hated sitting in the front. Not because we weren't good students, but because we felt like we were being judged. We were the outliers of the cruel cheerleader stereotype. Naturally, some still thought we were rude even though they didn't know us.
When Mrs. Caldwell came into the room it got quiet. We were in AP Psychology, she was a very serious teacher on campus. The class knew it too, this was the only class that the student actually behaved maturely and it's kind of refreshing. The class seems to fly by, probably because all I did was think about the game tonight.
Amber and I walked out of class and started going to our next classes, they were right next to each other. She seemed sad, so I nudged her elbow with mine and gave her a small smile when she looked up from her feet. She smiled back and stopped walking, she now looked scared. My mind went into alert mode as I asked, "What's wrong Amber?"
She looked at me and said, "I have nothing to wear tonight to the party."
I giggled at her comment and said, "Meet me at lunch."
She nodded, looking a little less worried and we both set off into our second period.
