At the doctor's office -

"Ms. Midoriya, I am sorry to say, but your child.......he is quirkless"

"YOU QUIRKLESS LOSER. YOU REALLY THINK YOU CAN BE A HERO."

"YOU SHOULD JUST GIVE UP."

"GO JUMP OFF A BUILDING AND MAYBE YOU GET A QUIRK IN YOUR NEXT LIFE"

"Look at him, isn't that the quirkless kid who wants to get into U.A"

"Yeah, he should stop trying so hard"

"I'M SORRY YOUNG MAN, YOU CANNOT BE A HERO WITHOUT A QUIRK...."

*End of flashback*

On a rooftop -

Izuku POV -

Those words flash through my mind as I stand here, at the edge of the building, looking off into the distance. 'Why am I still trying so hard' I thought to myself. 'It's never going to pay off' I then turn my head to look down, down at the far drop to the pavement below. I then hold my arms to my sides, making across shape, then lean......lean off the edge.........as I'm falling i start thinking about my mother, she was always there to support me, but I remember 3 words she said, "I'm sorry, Izuku" 'Those weren't the words I needed to hear back then mom, but I thank you for trying.' I close my eyes and feel the rushing wind going through my hair, then I remember something.....a promise.....a promise I made to someone.....someone important...

*Flashback*

"Stay away from her Kacchan" I said as I stood there, in between Kacchan(Bakugo) and a girl he injured that was laying on the ground in pain.

"WHAT WOULD YOU KNOW YOU QUIRKLESS NOBODY. STAY OUTTA MY WAY" Kacchan yelled as he threw me out of the way, but I got back up, I kept getting back up to protect her.

"TCH, WHATEVER, I'LL LEAVE YOU AND YOUR USELESS GIRLFRIEND ALONE" After those words, Kacchan walked away, seemingly fed up with my determination.

As I am turning towards the girl I start asking, "Are you---" I was cut off as I looked at her, she was very, very good looking, she had periwinkle hair that was long enough to probably go down to her waist and blue eyes that seemed to glow when I looked into them. "A-Are yo-you ok?" I get out as my stuttering starts.

"Yes, I'm fine" she energetically states as she tries to get up, but utterly fails as she falls to the ground in a mere few seconds.

"No you're not, you can't even stand up for more than 2 seconds" I look at her worriedly, I then ask her with concern laced into my voice, "Where did he hit you at." I see her look towards her legs, where she has many bruises and burns. 'How did I not see these before, they are so obvious' I think as I mentally face palm myself. "Well, l-lets get you back t-to my p-place to get you all p-patched up, sound g-good?"

"I-I would appreciate that, thank you." She thanked me as I helped her stand with her arm around my shoulders.

During our walk to me and my mother's apartment, she started to bombard me with questions.

"So what's your name? How old are you? Did you know that guy? How far is your apartment? What's your favorite food?"

"Woah, e-easy on the q-questions p-please." I nervously said as I scratch the back of my head. "And to answer your questions, my name is Izuku Midoriya, I am 12 years old, yes, he used to be my friend, my apartment is around a 5 minute walk from where we are now, and my favorite food is Katsudon."

She stared at me. Then a bright, shining smile appeared on her face and I finished answering her questions.

"I've never had anyone keep up with my questions before, this is so exciting" She stated as she started to float around, excitement and pure joy present on her face.

"Woah, yo-you're floating" I said while watching her.

"O-oh, sorry about that Izu-kun, that happens when I get super excited."

"Wha-what" I stutter as my face turns bright red, almost tomato like.

"What's wrong Izu-kun?"

"Y-You, used m-my first n-name"

"O-oh, I'm so sorry, it just happened, I didn't mean to, I won't do it again, please forgive me" She started rapidly apologizing.

"I-It's ok, It was just super sudden as I don't even know your name yet."

"Oh, my name, my name is Nejire, Nejire Hado"

"That's a cool name, well, are you trying to get into U.A Hado-san?" I ask her, somehow not stuttering.

"Please, call me Nejire-chan, and yes, I am hoping to get into the U.A hero course"

"O-Oh, ok, Nejire-chan, soooo, what is your quirk?"

"My quirk is Wave-Motion, I can create shockwaves using my energy, if I overuse it, I get really tired and hungry, but I'm not very good at my quirk control."

I open my bag and pull out my notebook, very quickly sketching down her figure and writing information about her quirk and coming up with ideas on how it works.

"Wow you're really good at sketching and taking notes" She said next to me full of energy and excitement. "So, are you trying to become a hero? And if so, what is your quirk?"

I then stop walking, I look down, my hair covering my eyes, "Yes, I would like to be a hero, but...."

"But what?"

"But....I'm quirkless..." I told her, anticipating her leaving and being disgusted, to tell me I can't be a hero, but her answer surprised me.

"So what"

"What?" I raise my head, staring at her blue eyes, wondering what she could mean.

"So what, what's going to stop you, just because you're quirkless doesn't mean you can't be a hero. You saved me from that other guy, that was pretty heroic if you ask me."

I can only stare at her as she gives me a big smile, easing all my doubts and making me smile.

"You know what?" She says. "Let's make a promise, a promise that we will both become heroes and work together when we become pro heroes." She stares at me with those mesmerizing blue eyes while holding out her pinkie, waiting for me to answer her.

"I promise." I said as she took her pinkie in mine.

* End of Flashback*

'I'm sorry, Nejire-chan' I then black out, right before I hit the pavement.
