Chapter 9: The Reunion

Start from the beginning

"Great! I'll go in the kitchen and start preparing dinner!" I stated quickly. I didn't want to be in a room with Lucifer any longer than I have to.

"I'll join you Alastor," Charlie added when I was finished with my statement. I nodded towards her and  started walking towards the kitchen while Charlie led her parents to the dining hall. Once they were situated, Charlie joined me in the kitchen. I was planning on making my mother's famous Jambalaya.

"Geez, it's so tense," Charlie stated while tying her hair back and washed her hands, getting ready to help me make the dish.

"You tell me, I was being stared down by your father the entire time. He didn't want me finding you, that's for sure, my goodness." I responded to her while chopping up some vegetables.

"I know Al, I'm really sorry you have to deal with this, but he can't do anything now, you already found me," Charlie stated while looking towards me, I looked back at her direction and couldn't help but smile softly towards her.

"Alright, what can I help you with?" Charlie smiled, getting pumped up to work on the Jambalaya. Charlie has always loved my cooking so the quicker it's done, the more excited she gets.

I couldn't help but chuckle at her expression and looked at the vegetables. "You can finish cutting the vegetables while I get the other ingredients prepared and putting it together in one. Once we get the remaining ingredients in the pot, it was just a waiting game until the final product was ready.

I leaned against the counter and Charlie was by my side, leaning her head against my shoulder. I looked down at her and smiled softly, slowly putting my arm around her shoulders.

"I missed this, making dinner with you, laughing, just having fun with no care at all," Charlie said softly while smiling at old memories. I couldn't help but smile at the same thing.

"Ya, I missed this too," I responded to her. I felt her hand on mine and she held onto it, I couldn't help but smile and hold her hand back.

"You know, I still have the engagement ring,"  I told her, chuckling softly.

She looked up at me with a shocked expression. "You do?"

I nodded in response. "After you 'died' I couldn't get rid of it, so I had it in my wallet along with a picture of you of when we were about a year in our relationship, Christmas Day." I explained to her and smiles at the memory of when I took that picture.

"The ring is still with the picture in my dresser inside one of the drawers."

"Wow," I felt Charlie smile and held onto my hand tighter. "That was one of the best days of my life, you know that?"  She stated and I looked down towards her, seeing that she was looking forward, recalling the memory. I couldn't help but chuckle.

"My goodness we're old," I couldn't help myself to say. Charlie looked up at me while an agape mouth with a slight smile. She playfully hit my arm.

"I'm not old, I just don't keep track of the years." She stated while pouting. I couldn't help but laugh at her reaction.

"You're older than I am my dear," I looked down at her and lifted her face by her chin. "But, you're still as beautiful as ever my charming demon belle." I stated to her, getting a blush on her cheeks in return.

"I-If you don't mind, can I see the ring again one day?" She asked me while looking up at me with her now red face, replacing her usual pale one.

"Of course my dear,"

Unknowingly, we moved closer to one another, our lips getting closer to one another...

All of sudden, we both heard the timer go off, stating that the food was ready. It snapped both Charlie and I from our trance and we moved away from one another. I smirked towards her and chuckled, 'not yet my darling' thinking to myself.

I move the food to the dining room where Lilith and Lucifer were conversing, probably about me wanting to stay away from Charlie. "Dinner is served!" I exclaimed and smiled, lifting the top from the pot revealing a well seasoned Jambalaya; it was perfect.

Charlie looked at the food and her eyes sparkled. "Wow! That looks  so amazing!" She exclaimed while looking at the food, her mouth watering. I couldn't help chuckle and served everyone a plate, sitting next to Charlie.

"This does look magnificent, where did you learn how to cook Alastor if I may ask?" Lilith asked me, which I was surprised  she wanted to start a conversation with me.

"My mother taught me how to cook. This is her recipe in fact, everything I know comes from her." I responded to the queen.

"Well then your mother must have been a very good cook,"  She added, smiling towards me.

"She was, I would love to see her again, but I'm pretty sure she isn't in Hell," I said to her, looking at Charlie, smiling softly. 'I wished she was around to meet Charlie' I thought to myself.

After the dinner, Lilith and Lucifer thanked us for the meal, even though Lilith had to press on to Lucifer to thank me. Charlie hugged her mother goodbye and went to my side. I guess she had some harsh feelings towards her father as well. I don't blame her, Lucifer really is an asshole. And before we knew it, Lucifer and Lilith walked out of the hotel, leaving Charlie and I alone in the room together. Both of us sighed in relief, it was now time to clean up the mess. I went in the kitchen, took off my jacket while rolling up my sleeves and started on dishes while Charlie brought my the dishes from the dining hall while she cleaned up the room.

Once I was finished with dishes, I escorted Charlie to her room. "Hey, Al, I just wanted to say thank you for tonight, for helping me deal with my parents." Charlie stated, I smiled softly down at her and nodded my head, saying of course in response. She kissed my cheek which took my by surprise, I caught a glimpse of her red cheeks before she went in her room and closed the door. I was left in the hall to think about what just happened, but couldn't stop a growing sincere wide smile emerging from my lips. I celebrated in my mind while I walked in my room.

Once I entered into the dark red room, closing the door behind me, I got myself situated to retire for the night. I sat on my bed, turning on the lamp next to my on the nightstand and started to read a book.

A few minutes later, I heard a knock at my door. I sighed and saved the page I was reading before closing the novel. I set the book on my nightstand and got up, walking over towards the door. Once I opened it, there stood the princess in her pajamas and holding her pillow in one of her arms.

"Hey Al, I couldn't sleep after this whole night, mind if I stay with you?" She asked me in such an innocent tone. Her cheeks were flushed and her eyes were sparkling from the light radiating from my room behind me.

"Of course," I smiled softly and let her inside my room. There was a picture of us in our human form hanging on the wall, the same picture that was taken on Christmas Day.

Charlie sat on my bed and looked around, seeing the picture. "You still have the picture..." She gasped.

"Well of course, I kept it along with the ring." I told her while going to my drawer, pulling it out and pulling out a small bag. I went over towards her and sat next to her, handing her the small bag. "This is for you,"

She took the bag within her hands and opened it gently, seeing the very same ring I proposed to her those many years ago. She put her hand over her mouth and tears fell from those sparkling eyes.

I couldn't hold myself back anymore, I gently put my hand under her chin and had her face towards me. "Charlotte, I-" before I could finish my sentence, she smashed her lips against mine which shocked me completely.

After a half a minute of the kiss, we then broke apart and leaned our foreheads against each others. Charlie looked at me in the eye and smiled. "I love you too Alastor, never stopped."
