"You should always treat your chief with the upmost respect, otherwise you throw yourself and the whole village under," Ares growled. "Now be a good lad and answer politely."
The older man scoffed, standing on weak injured legs. He was still taller than Ares, but that didn't make him back off.
"And why should I listen to you? Your Ares the Bloodthirsty. A petty boy who slaughter men, woman, and children alike. Your nothing more than the dirt we walk on," the man spat.
Ares didn't waver. He was use to this kind of talk, but he never put up with it. It wasn't even a minute after those words did Ares take the man's shoulder and kicked his shaken knee in. A sickening crack had everyone stare at Ares in bewilderment. A deafening sound came from the man causing the healers to rush over.
Salmen gripped Ares arm tightly pulling him away. Everyone watched silently as they left.
"What are you doing?!" Salmen hissed. "This isn't your village! This isn't what Cherry wanted and this isn't what Lani needs her father to be doing!"
Ares's eyes grew cold. Taking Salmen by the back of the neck he dragged him away into the woods. As Salmen struggled and yelled profusely at Ares, he held tighter. Tossing him into a clearing Ares started yelling.
"Are you dense? That man blames you for this!"
"And maybe he should! If I was here-"
"But you weren't!" Ares cut off. "And he doesn't blame your for just the injuries, but the attack as well!"
"Why would anyone think that?" Salmen glared.
"Because you were with me!" Ares screamed.
Frustrated tears pricked Ares's eyes as Salmen stood in disbelief.
"Salmen, someone here is turning the village against you. I don't think you noticed, but everyone gave both of us hostile glares," Ares muttered. "And if I were to guess who, it'd be someone mad at both of us."
"W-why both of us? Why no just me?" Salmen asked bewildered.
Ares sighed but didn't answer. Instead took Salmens arm and ducked behind bushes. Salmen wasn't sure what was going on, but didn't say a word. As the two sat, someone came from the undergrowth. Staying for a moment, more came.
It wasn't until the two realized Lilian was there. Before Salmen could launch himself at her, Ares held him back. The two stayed quiet as they headed up towards the village.
"What was that?" Salmen hissed.
"Shush. Just stay behind me," Ares muttered.
Creeping up on the group from behind, Ares cover one man's mother before slitting his throat. Quickly and swiftly Ares placed the body in the brush as another spotted him, giving there position away.
"Oh my dear boy. I didn't expect you here," Lilian smiled.
Although she held a confident posture, Ares saw fear and anger. It was directed to him, and it had Ares thinking.
"Is that so? I take there is an inside man who told you?" Ares asked sharply.
Lilian ignored the question and spoke to her allies.
"Deal with them."

"Brother, this isn't a good idea."
"Don't worry your pretty little head. Our buddy is dealing with their dragons. We'll be fine and Ares will pay for all that he has done."
Blythe, tensed at what she heard and shuffled away as quiet as a mouse. Working with a patient she couldn't believe her ears. As Kaia and Demetrius came in, Blythe flinched. She was still on edge with what she heard.
"If you were to rate the pain your in, what would it be?" Kaia asked kindly to her patient.
"Since that tyrant broke my knee, I would say high," the man grumbled.
Blythe frowned at hearing the conversation before clumsily patching her younger patient up. When she was done, she left for her hut, only for a hand to come over her mouth with a rag.
"I'm sorry Blythe, but I can't have you ruin this."
Those where the last words she heard before everything went black. She wasn't sure how long she was out, but when she came to Salmen's voice reached her ears.
"Oh thank the gods your alright," Salmen muttered.
Blythe blinked, even though she couldn't see, and leaned into Salmen's embrace. From what she could tell, they were in a cold room, or was it a cell. She couldn't really tell, but yelling and shouts came from amass of people. Dragons roars and cries were hear, mingling with the humans deafening sound.
"Where are we? Salmen I'm scared," Blythe trembled.
"Blythe, it will okay. Come on, we got to get out."
Blythe felt Salmen take a pin from her hair and move. Following closely she realized Salmen was picking a lock. When it gave he hopped out, and then helped her out. Salmen was glad the cage they were in wasn't within the amass of people just beyond the large doors, but now he had to find away out with Blythe while finding Ares. Finding nothing, he just about gave up until a familiar voice reached his ears.
"Salmen, over here," Demetrius whispered loudly. In the wall was a hidden door.
Not questioning it, Salmen took hold of Blythe's hand, not noticing the resistance. Together, the three walked out of the large room and into a dark, musky hallway.

"You may win these small battles, but you won't win the war," Ares breathed. "Not without me and you know it."
Lilian turned to her son who was holding his head high dispite his conditions. Blood spilled from his busted lip and swollen nose. His good eye swelled from the punches delivered there. A long laceration was displayed down his side and thigh. In short, he looked awful and weak. Only he wasn't, and Lilian knew that.
"I seem to be doing fine without such a waste of potential," Lilian shot back.
Ares glared coldly at his mother making her shutter.
"You mean the potential to rid of those who don't follow under your rules? Your a hypocrite and abusive! Did you ever love me mother? Love me like you did Cades?"
"Don't you dare mention his name to me! You have no right to speak him name!" Lilian snapped. "No right!"
Ares growled. If it were for his chains, he would have stood up to yell at her. Nevertheless, it didn't stop him from yelling.
"No! You haven't the right! Cades loved me and he loved you, but I don't think he could anymore. You're an ill twisted monster and that is all you have been since Cades died," Ares cried. "A monster just like your own father! Just like-"
Ares tasted iron in his mouth as his face began to sting. Spitting he found blood mixed with his saliva. Raising his gave, he found Lilian glaring at him with teary eyes. He knew then she was on the verge of breaking.
"Your weaker than I thought. You told me to never show a shred of emotion to enemies and yet I see you breaking apart right infront of me," Ares smirked. "And all because I mentioned Cades..."
"Shut it.."
"...and dear old-"
"I SAID SHUT IT!" Lilian burst.
"Or what?" Ares challenged.
"Or I'll rid the world of everyone and everything you love. Starting with your dragon," Lilian seethed.
It was then a man came bursting into the room.
"Miss, the prisoners and the dragons escaped!"
Ares smirked watching his mother boil in rage. Ordering the man away Ares spoke up.
"Tell me this, is there really anything in this world that I truly care about?"
Lilian turned to her son and glared downwards at him.
"Lani."
