a week before meeting (Y/N)...

"This is hopeless." Mori said displeased.

"Our weapons smugglers are two weeks behind schedule." His voice was heard in the eerie silence.

"Our men are going to be fighting with kitchen knifes at this rate, and that's not all." As he paused, the beams of sun, shined through the window.

"With the escalating violence, we're losing contracts for our protection business." He sighed in defeat. His back facing Dazai.

"Maybe we just aren't just cut out for this." Mori's shoulders rose. He spun his chair around to face Dazai.

"What do you think, Dazai-kun?" He asked the young boy with desperation in his voice.

"Come on, Mori-san..." Dazai looked at Mori.

"Not having money, not having intel, not having the trust of your subordinates..." He said with his eyes closed, while also holding a beaker with clear liquid, mixing it around with a glass rod.

"You knew that from the beginning didn't you?" He opened his eyes while giving a response.

"You're so mean." Mori said with a hint of disappointment in his voice. Dazai looked back down to the beaker.

Mori also looked at the beaker Dazai was mixing.

"Say, why are you mixing hypertension medication with hypotension medication?" Mori asked with confusion.

"I thought taking them together might be a comfortable way to die." Dazai said looking back up.

"Dazai-kun," Mori looked away from Dazai, closing his eyes. "You were there when I inherited the boss' seat." He looked back at Dazai, opening his purple colored eyes.

"You're a witness for his will." Dazai was about to drink the mixture, "I can't have you dying so willy-nilly." but he looked at Mori as the man finished.

Dazai brought the beaker below his chest, as he continued to look at Mori.

Flashback

"How do you feel, boss?" Mori's voice was heard in the silent bedroom.

"Doctor... tell the executives to murder them all..." A hoarse voice from the bed responded back. He was known as the old boss.

"The opposing organizations, the military police, everyone who opposes the Port Mafia, by sundown." The old boss continued.

"That's not a rational course of action." Mori looked down at the old boss.

"I don't care how many men we lose. Kill them. Just kill them. Kill them all!" Mori positioned his scalpel by the old boss' neck.

"Kill them! Kill them!" The old boss repeatedly said this over and over again. "Understood, boss."

Mori slashed his scalpel, blood coming along. Murdering The old man. The old boss' blood sprayed along the teal colored walls.

"The boss has passed on due to his illness." Mori said as if he was talking to someone, someone witnessed the situation.

"He left word saying I will inherit his position as the boss." The old boss' blood soaked the bed sheets.

Mori looked behind him. "You're my witness." Blood was displayed on Mori's pale face. A boy with chestnut hair looked at him. The red moon behind the young boy.

"Got it?" The boy looked at Mori silently.

End of Flashback

"You made an error of judgement." Dazai placed down the beaker to the table beside him. He faced Mori.

"It was smart of you to choose someone who attempts suicide as your accomplice, but here I am a year later, alive."

(here's a lil bit of info)
When Dazai was 14 years old, as he said a year ago. Mori took him in as a patient who had recently attempted suicide.

"I made no error." Mori said with confidence "You and I were successful in our mission together."

"The mission isn't complete until those who were involved in the assassination are silenced." Dazai said looking down at the carpet floor.

"To that end, I was a perfect accomplice." Mori smirked. "Even if I ended my life in a suicide of unknown motivation after you became the boss thanks to my testimony, no one would suspect a thing."

Mori fully faced Dazai, a smirk on his face. They looked at each other for a hot second.

"You remind me of someone." Dazai perked up. "If I was going to silence you, I would have done it long ago. If you really want, I can prepare something that'll end your life comfortably."

"Really?" Dazai eagerly asked.

"In exchange, I want to ask you to do a quick investigation." Mori spun around to face his desk, he drew back his drawer to take something. He grabbed the quill on top his desk.

"It's not a big deal. There's no danger involved." Dazai was skeptical of Mori. "Sounds so sketchy." Mori ignored his comment and continued.

"I trust that you know about Suribachi City in the Yokohama settlement." Mori faced Dazai. "There's a rumor going around that a certain individual has emerged in that area."

"I want you to investigate that rumor." Mori pulled up a silver piece of paper.

"This contract is a delegation of authority. They call it the "Silver Message". Show this to any Port Mafia member and they'll do anything you ask of them."

"Who is this rumor about?" Dazai questioned. "Take a guess." Dazai sighed. "A rumor that's harmful just by spreading..."

"I see." Dazai said standing up. "So that's what's going on." He looked at Mori. "It's the previous boss, isn't it?"

"Correct." Dazai walked over to Mori. "There are some humans who must never rise from the grave." Dazai was now in front of Mori.

"You understand, don't you?" Dazai grabbed the piece of paper. "You'll promise to make me that drug?"

"This'll be your first job." Mori smirked.

"Welcome to the Port Mafia." Dazai was about to walk out the door, but he forgot to ask something.

"Oh, right." Mori faced Dazai once more. "Who's this person I remind you of?" Mori smirked upon hearing the question. "Me."

"Dazai-kun, why do you wish to die?" Mori asked. "Let me ask you, then." Dazai's eyes became dull. "Do you really think there's any value in the act of living?"
