AFTER A LONG DAY at the split bean, jolie was ready to get on the bus and just get home. she untied her apron, and gently placed it upon her hook ( that she'd decorated with stickers of pink flowers ), and grabbed her bag, in order to make her journey home.
behind the counter sat CRANBERRY WOODS, sorting through the till, whilst CINNAMON BARK came out of the staff room, in order to finish closing up, "see you tomorrow, jolie; no rush on getting here, have a safe trip home."
the two older girls bid their farewells to jolie, as she headed out of the cafe, with a tired smile, a yawn, and a wave. thankfully, the bus stop was only down the street, and she was taking a seat as soon as she stepped foot on the bus.
minutes passed as the girl watched the city lights through the window, listening to a soft balled through her headphones, and as the bus came to a stop, the smell of dumplings took over the girl's senses.
stepping off the bus, with a smile to the driver, she turned to the left, in order to head straight for the dumpling kiosk. jolie checked the time on her phone, before realising the kiosk was about to close, and ran to get into the queue.
the abrupt force of running into someone caused the girl to stop in place, and as she looked up, she noticed someone had pushed in front of her.
the dark-haired boy had seemingly come out of the shadows, holding a prince-like aura to him. he stood tall, with his chin in the air, as if knowing he was better than everyone within the vicinity.
"extra-large portion of dumpings, with chilli oil, please." hearing the boy's order, jolie's eyes narrowed, knowing she wouldn't get as many dumplings as she'd planned.
as the boy turned away, and jolie took his place, to order, she noticed the smirk upon his face — as though he knew something she didn't.
smiling at the man serving her, she cleared her throat, "medium portion of dumplings with chilli oil, please!"
"i'm sorry, dear, but we just ran out of dumplings and chilli oil. that young man finished us off — you could come back tomorrow if you'd like?"
"ah, no no, it's okay, thank you though, sir." she smiled at the man once again before turning away, and heading straight to where the boy had taken a place on one of the benches, "okay, first you take my place in line, then you order what i was going to order — and because you ordered an extra-large, they ran out of dumplings; you're going to get fat, and lose that prince look, at the rate you're going!"
the boy smirked at the girl, raising his eyebrows in amusement, "oh really, now? and what are you going to do about it?"
"not much because i'm ridiculously tired, i had such a bad day at work, and i'll do anything if you share the dumplings with me."
"anything?"
"anything."
"welcome to the split bean, how can i help?"NAME TAG
