"______, is something wrong? You look upset," Namjoon shouted over the deafening music, causing you to divert your attention from the random indoor plant you've been staring holes into for the past minute.

Eyes travelling to Hoseok at a booth and some girl who had her hands all over him and back to Namjoon, you forced a smile, ignoring the knot forming at the pit of your stomach. "Everything's fine."

He left with a simple nod and went to join everyone else on the dance floor. You, on the other hand, were sitting alone at the bar.

Initially, you arrived at the club with Hoseok with the plan of letting loose since finals were over and Seokjin invited everyone to hang out. But after using the restroom for a short while, you were greeted by the sight of him flirting with a gorgeous girl in a strapless bodycon dress.

Hoseok was your best friend and you shouldn't be hurt over him trying to shoot his shot with others... if it weren't for the romantic feelings you constantly tried to bury down.

You didn't see him as more than a friend when you first met and neither did you expect to be this head over heels for him, but here you are. His small yet caring gestures to you seemed like regular things best friends would do for each other, but at some point you realized the times he's gone out of his way just for your happiness and comfort and all the times he's been so understanding and thoughtful with you.

It sparked something within... something warm and something that felt like home.

His actions had given you hope that maybe you had a chance to be with him. A chance to be the one he'd wake up next to in the morning or the one who gets to shower him with all the love he deserves.

But at the end of the day, you're only his best friend. No romantic feelings, purely platonic.

The things he'd done were because he loved you and you knew that. It just wasn't in the way you wanted him to.

So, to save yourself from ruining your friendship with him that you valued so much, you balled up your feelings  and buried them deep down within.

You looked at the dance floor, seeing everyone having the time of their lives while you were here moping around because your crush is with a girl who's in many ways more desirable than you could ever see yourself to be.

Glancing at their booth for the hundredth time tonight, you noticed it was empty.

The pain in your chest grew as a sad, pitiful smile appeared on your face. If anyone knew your situation, they would think you're a psycho for smiling at a time like this. A time when the man you loved probably brought a girl to his home to sleep with. You felt pity for yourself so all you could do was smile miserably at the ground.

"Had a bad day?"

Your head shot up to look at the bartender wiping a few glasses.

"Could be worse."

"Want a drink? It'll be on the house," he smiled warmly, you almost cooing at his chubby cheeks.

"A tequila shot would be fine," you returned the smile. And in less than a minute, he served you a glass and went to tend to other customers.

Downing it one go, you felt the burning sensation in your throat. You turn your attention to people on the dance floor having fun grinding against each other and ignoring all their problems in the world, even if it was just for a little bit.
