I Have Never Shared as I Share With You

I have never shared

As I share with you.

In this intimate proximity

I drop my guard,

Daydreaming in your presence,

Safe, Knowing

You won't jump up and down

On the crystalline structure,

Fragile in its making

Stretched across the imagination.

The grace you give me,

In allowing me to totter along beside

On this most arduous of journeys.

The lessons you taught

On the importance of family

And how to save me

From myself.

In standing beside me

In those dark drunken years,

When I thought the bottle

My only friend.

I was wrong; I had you and more

It was on the precipice of losing

That,

I was reborn.

The depth of empathy

You radiate,

Sometimes too deep,

So deep you put

Yourself at the bottom,

Holding others reality together,

Softens even me.

On the day,

I can no longer keep up

(We both know this world

Is not meant for me)

And I escape out the window,

As you box up my things,

Looking for a piece of me,

Know that:

I have never shared

As I share with you.
