The Underground // Long Ago.

The land of light had once been their own.

It had been a long time ago but once...once monsters had once walked alongside humanity, leaving peacefully together in the land of light. There was no need to hide away in the shadows, not then, and no need to fight. For many years, there was only peace and happiness until...

Until there wasn't.

Until humans changed.

It had happened so suddenly, friendship souring into hatred. Peace quickly turned into war, brutal and bloody. It was a horrible war...and they were losing. Warriors fell in droves and, with every battle lost, the fighting began creeping closer and closer to the innocent.

Families slaughtered in their homes.

Children left orphaned and alone.

Monsters fell one by one, littering the earth.

The bloodshed was like a red rain. Despite their best efforts, the war was no longer in their favor and the monsters knew that they needed to save themselves.

And, with no other choice before them, they could only choose one thing:

Run.

They left the light behind them, vanishing in the night. Innocents firsts. Warriors. And then the leaders, all gone so quickly. Humanity celebrated their "bravery" as the monsters ran, a trail of blood and tears left behind them. Broken and lost, they went beneath the earth, hoping and praying that they would never be found.

At first, it was only them. The first to come.

But others came along in time, mutants born form accidents or experiments, all seeking a better life. Looking for home.

They were welcomed, the mutants and monsters becoming one.

And now...

The land of darkness is their home. Here, a society of beasts grew, becoming stronger and stronger with each generation. From the darkness came a glimmering light, glowing beneath the mortal world.

Safe.

Protected.

After hiding in the dark for so long, so many of them thought that this was forever. That humanity would never be able to accept them, not after so many years of violence and silence. But a heart can change in time and perhaps...

Love may find a way.
