Chapter forty

The cold wrapped itself around me and pierced through my skin as I looked at the door I had just pushed Seth out of only seconds before. I began to shiver and I didn't know what from. With him gone, the stranger who had attacked me returned to my mind.

He wouldn't have just beaten me up,l to beat me up. I thought. There had to be a motivation but nothing was missing or out of place. It was messy but not in a way that this person was looking for something. I went around to look in nooks and crannies and still found no hint of evidence that someone had been in here except for the bruises on my arms.

Confusion clouded my mind but I was tired and sore and pushed it away. I still felt shaky on the inside and realized it would soon be time for dinner. I had about forty five minutes until I had to be back in the cafeteria. I went in the bathroom and saw in the mirror a reflection of myself. A true mess I was.

My hair was sweaty and matted against my face and I had random bruising on my arms and legs. Red raw spots covered my wrists where the rope had been. My clothes were wrinkly and my makeup was smeared from going to sleep or getting knocked out or whatever happened. I shuddered at my appearance.

A shower. I thought. That'll help. Stripping off my clothes I got in the shower and leaned against the wall as I turned the knob and the hot water ran over me. I scrubbed my hair and washed myself while thinking about everything that happened.

I hadn't even pushed Seth out because I was mad at him,I pushed him out because I couldn't stand to look at him helping me without remembering how I had hurt him on the stairs. It was all just a giant mess. I was still rattled when I got out of the shower but I felt better.

I wore a dark green sweater to cover the bruises on my arms and bootcut jeans to cover the bruises on my legs. I let my hair flow down around my shoulders and realized it was back to its original color. I hadn't realized it but thinking back I realized Seth's hair was back to normal too.

I put on white socks and white converse and didn't bother with makeup. You now couldn't even tell anything had happened to me. I licked my lips out of thirst and went into the kitchen for some water.

It was refreshing and slid down my throat with ease. I finished cleaning up the rest of the mess and didn't notice until everything was clean. A metal object by the window.

I managed to walk over and pick up the sturdy metal in my hand. It was indented in several areas with little pictures and foreign words.

Confused remembering all Seth had told me I decided it was time to do some research. Lunch had to be over by now so I had plenty of free time till dinner.

I went to TT's room and knocked on her door. She answered and pulled me into a tight hug. "Oooh girl Seth told me everything,do you know how worried I was?" "I'm fine." I replied sheepishly. She let me go and ushered me into her room. It was very cluttered but it was clean. And her walls were painted white with black polka dots. "Ya like?" She asked. "It's very you." I said politely.

"When I hunt down whoever touched your poor body." She said. But I cleared my throat before she could start ranting signaling that I wanted to talk.
"We're going to the library." I said.
"What?" She asked.
"I'll explain on the way there but c'mon!" I said pulling her back into the hallway.
"Ok ok what is this a murder mystery." She laughed. Something like that I thought to myself.

Chapter forty one

"Maybe it's Mayan?" TT said turning away from her computer to look at me.
"Impossible,it says Mayan coins were made of a different metal and most have rugged edges. Ours is as smooth as a babies butt." I said fingering the object. We had been in the library researching every type of ancient cultures coins trying to find one culture that my coin could possibly fit into.
"Mongolian?" TT asked.
"No way." I said shaking my head.
"Old Chinese or Japanese or something?" She asked bored.
"Still no way that's possible." I said disappointed.
"Look even of we know the origin of the coin that doesn't help us figure out who put it there or why." TT said.
"But they wouldn't give it to me as a decoration,it's a clue." I said.
"A clue for what?" TT asked. Me and Seth had decided to keep our theory about his dad to ourselves and here I had just slipped.
"Ugh never mind just I think whoever put it there wants us to know something about them and so they gave us this." I said running my finger over the smooth object hoping my coverup would work.
"Alright ok ok but why would they make it this hard to find?" TT asked defeated.
"Maybe were the ones doing the research wrong." I suggested.
"We aren't exactly the brightest in the bunch." TT joked. I high fived her and we went back to researching.
