Found a huge rock outcropping from the earth. It had a smooth surface, and it was shaped like a gourd. Gwen showed me an insect. At first, I thought a twig was stuck to her hand but I was mistaken. Phasmatodea.

I've been wondering why she wasn't minding my book, but that's just because she also brought hers. She must've thought that this book is for documenting our finds. A black ant. Lasius Niger. Ah, so they're called carpenter ants. Solenopsis. Don't touch it. Oh hey, a beetle very similar to the one I found yesterday. Lucanidae. Don't play with it too much. It looks scary, but it looks cool at the same time. Rhopalocera. Nymphalidae. Danaus Plexippus. Danainae. Gosh, Gwen sure loves butterflies. Just by taking down notes, I feel like I'm learning a ton. We've been seeing the same types of insects, so we searched further.

Alas, our little search brought us to the crude shanty. I wonder if Gwen planned this all along. Better bring sticks for attacking anything hostile. We put our notebooks in our bags, and cautiously went closer. It isn't really too scary, but it won't hurt to be cautious, right? It's sorta precarious, after all. If a wooden plank tries to fall and hurt Gwen, I'll save her without hesitation. I don't really like getting hurt but if it's for Gwen, the more painful it is, the happier I'll be.

It looked like I said that last bit out loud, because Gwen reacted and asked if I was a 'maso chis'. What's that? Someone who is skilled at building things using bricks but uses cheese instead? Mason-cheese. Writing while walking sure is a hassle. Before I realized it, we were already inside.
