I can't believe,I am leaving Terra Nova.I never thought in a million years I would leave this place,I started to call home.I need to do this though,I feel like I can help more if i do this.The new program that was presented was you can go to whatever year you want in the future but you might not come back.When the commander told us this I was excited but when I remembered he said we might not come back I got sad.I didn't have to much time to think about it because it will only be available for one week.I decided to sign up, when we i ever get this a chance like this again.The hard part was going to be telling Mark and my family.I told Mark we needed to talk.We meet up in his house.

"Hey Maddy, what did you want to talk about"

"I don't know how to say it"

"it is going to be ok just tell me"

"Ok you know the program that Commander Tyler told us about"

"Yes the one for the future"

"I signed up for it"

"WHAT"

"Yes I am so sorry, but I feel like I can do more"

"I understand"

"That is why I want to break up"

"Ok,I know it wont work with you in the future"

"Thank you for being so understanding"

"When do you leave"

"Tomorrow"

"Oh, do you want me to walk you home"

"No it is ok, bye Mark"

"Bye Maddy"

I left Mark's house and started to walk to my's.I am really scared to tell my parents,I don't know how they are going to react.I walked in my whole family was at the table staring at me.I think they found out about it.

"Hey guys what is going on"

"Maddy did you sign up for the new programing"

"..."

"Maddy answer the question"

"Yes"

"How could you, you are going to leave your family behind"

"I did because I feel like I could do more in the future than here"

"What do you mean Terra nova has everything you need"

"I know but I just want to try something new"

"You know you can't back if you go"

"I know"

"Do whatever you want, you think you know what is best for you"

"Dad wait"

And like that my dad slammed the door and left the house and my brother Josh went to his room and slammed the door.My mom told my little sister Zoey to go play.My mom went over to me.

"Maddy I am really disappointed for you not telling us sooner"

"I know but I was really scared to tell you guys"

"When do you leave"

"Tomorrow morning"

"Just so you know I am not mad at you ok"

"But dad is"

"He will come around"

"I am sorry for breaking the family up"

"You didn't, now wash up and get ready for bed"

"ok"

I took a shower and went straight to bed.In the morning I got my bag and started to walk to commander Tyler.I was really sad only Mom and Zoey came, Dad was still mad and Josh didn't even want to see me.Tyler started up the portal, I hugged Zoey and Mom.I told mom to tell dad and Josh I loved them.I turned back to the portal and walked in.It felt like the first time I came to Terra Nova.It only took 5 seconds,I was a 16 year old alone.I was so happy I actually made it.I had brought enough money to rent an apartment .I found a part time job and a school to go to.I finally fell like I belong somewhere.

For the first few months I wrote letters to my family but never sending them because it was impossible.Then after a while I just stopped,I knew they were never going to read it so I stopped.After a year of living here I meet a guy, we dated for 2 months but i found out he cheated on me.I was over Mark by this point.I just hope they are doing well in Terra Nova.

The day Maddy left my heart broke.Me and Zoey were the only ones who went to say bye to Maddy.I could see in her eyes she was hurt by her brother and father not coming to say goodbye.When I got home with Zoey from saying goodbye to Maddy, I found my husband Jim crying in the living room.I told Zoey to go to her room and I went to Jim.

"What is wrong Jim?"

"I should have went to say bye to Maddy"

"Why didn't you?

"Because I was mad"

"She was really hurt"

"I am such a bad father"

"No you aren't, you are human you made a mistake"

"A big one though"

"You are going to see her again"

"How do you know?"

"I just know"
